Too bad. Fortunately, as far as Timmins et al are concerned, he has what it takes to be part of the Habs family.

strange how all the whl players are being dropped. maxwell is a better player than mcardle as far as i'm concerned. i guess they have more depth at center. very suprised esposito was dropped though.

It will be interesting to see how many players from that juniour WC team turn out better than Lats. I'm guessing not that many. Steve Downie for example, got a ton of ice time and I doubt he'll be anything more than a 3r/4th line guy in the NHL (assuming he lives given his style of play). The WJC team doesn't always translate to success at the NHL level.

Montreal hasn't really been greatly represented through recent memory. And not only for Team Canada. This year might just be more of the same. I'll still cheer as hard as ever for the 3-peat! Go Canada Go!

Bang Bang, Maxwell hears the silver hammer. not sure what that means, its probably too obvious for me to notice. i know one thing, maxwell is about 40/60 to make the nhl, whereas the chance of mcardle making it is slim to none.

Some pretty good guys were dropped including sensations like Tavares and Esposito.
Clement Jodoin explained that they were interested in icing the best possible team, not by getting on board every star players. On top of getting guys that can score, they need guys to kill penalties and/or shut down the opposition when need be.

Can't answer this H&C, I don't know these guys well enough to second guess the picks, I just wanted to give out the answer Jodoin gave on why they were cuting some players that were clearly better than some that they kept. Certainly seems like the Draper to team Canada syndrom which I never agreed with.

Certainly seems like the Draper to team Canada syndrom which I never agreed with. i was never really impressed with esposito at the camp last year, everyone was talking about him, he looks like a fast skater, but he just takes small quick choppy steps (sorry not very scout-like terminology) and he was a good stickhandler, but i thought setoguchi was better, but he got cut again this year so there goes that. as far as maxwell, i haven't seen him play this season, he's basically carrying all the offence in kootenay by the looks of it. mcardle as i said doesn't excel at any facet of the game, the giants just accquired him a month ago so i've only seen 4-5 games, but i vividly remember liking maxwell everytime i saw him play last season which i believe was 2-3 times. i guess time will tell, i think it was more of an experience thing, i believe mcardle is 1 year older.

Tavares, Espo and maxwell didn't make it. Good company. I haven't learned much in 60 years, but one thing I've learned is in team sports, it's not always the highest paid superstars that win. Team Canada had some superstars that lost to Russian no-name teams for years. THe US Dream teams of superstars get blown out by no-name Italians and Argentinians. I'm hopeing that the selectors went with older players to form a great team rather than throwing out the best young inexperienced future stars. I don't know the players enough to overrule the selections made by the coaches that watched them in camp, but I think you are right that Tavares, Esposito and Maxwell will have great NHL careers and many of the players selected to the Jr. team won't.
