Can anybody shed any light on this guy? He was pretty impressive with the Bulldogs last year as he showed a lot of offensive talent (I belive he tied the record for goals by a defenseman for the Bulldogs with 10; he only played 54 games). Apparently he had some issues at training camp this year and was sent home for unkown reasons (at least unknown to this poster). There have been a few rumours circulating about him, but I'd rather deal in facts. I see he is now playing with the Dundas Real McCoys in the Ontario Senior AAA league. He's played one game and picked up 3 goals (2PP and 1 SH) and 1 assist in a 9-8 Dundas victory.
Any of you with connections to the Habs know anything about Sanford? He's still young (22). I'd love to see him back in Hamilton.

Wasn't there some thread or posts (?) , that someone was sent home during training camp? Was it Sanford?

There was something mentioned in previous threads about him being sent home for being overweight. This was the 2nd year in a row that this has happened (him showing up to camp overweight). However, I've also heard rumours about other personal problems that he's had. I'm just wondering what the "real" story is and what his status is with the Habs now - have they given up on him or does he still have a future with the team?

James Sandford showed up to camp out of shape and Carbo sent him packing. This is the second straight season in which he has been out of shape at camp. Last year it had him starting the season in Long Beach. Not exactly how to win friends and influence a new coaching staff.

Sanford is back, he's been assigned to the ECHL on loan to Texas to play under his former coach from Long Beach, Malcom Cameron. He had 3 pts in his first game back last night. echl.leaguestat.com/stats/player.php?id=1009

If he's turned it around, the Habs won't be benefiting. As reported in the Hamilton Spectator today:
"And now the final word on defenceman James Sanford.
The Habs are saying that Sanford's contract with Montreal was terminated on Jan. 15 for failing to report in the proper physical condition.
He had previously been suspended by the Bulldogs for the same reason. That means he won't ever be back with the Dogs."
