TSNVeteran backup for likely Vezina candidate Grubauer, who has started 33 games. Not a bad move...cheap too. Sharks must be freeing up cap space for an impact deadline move, as they're currently fighting for 4th with the Yotes and Blues. Pateryn had split this season with the AHL's Eagles.

I wonder if Sakic feels Dubnyk is a realistic Plan B in case Grubauer gets hurt or if he was the best option out there. Goalies have been in short supply it seems, desite all the availability in the offseason. Dubnyk has an 898 save percentage in 888 minutes (around 15 games) with the Sharks. Sharks have been 'not good' this year as they rebuild (I think), so maybe Dubnyk has been better than his numbers. Goal is the only question mark I have around the Avs. I wouldn't be surprised if last year's visit from Bergevin to Denver involved some deal around Price. I'd love to know the details of their discussions.
When your D is built around Makar, Girard, Devon Toews, Ryan Graves and your 3rd pair includes Bowen Byram and eventually a healthy Erik Johnson, that's a Yikes moment.

Colorado could put a cardboard cutout in net and they would likely win games these days. They are playing well.
Good luck to Dubnyk. Always liked the guy.

Sakic, I'm sure, remembers finishing the playoffs last season with Michael Hutchison.
