Just by looking at the stats, J.F. Cote was a +2, and had 17 minutes in penalties. His stint last year was pretty impressive, as he played his position soundly, despite some awkward looking skating. He looks like someone who could step right in right now, and play better than the effort we are currently getting on D, adding a mean streak as well.

The stat you may not see from J-P Cote is the shot blocking. He finds ways to get his body on shots. I'll count this afternoon and let you guys know the total. And the 17 PIM last night was all from a fight. He got the instigator. That said, he is a physical guy, very mean at times, but smart. My impression of him, though the stats may show otherwise, is that he's in the box every other game or so. Very few hooking and holding penalties though.

Apparently, J-P decided to mail it in today. He played really poorly, and didn't actually have many opportunities to block shots, as the Dogs spent most of the game either on the power play, or up by six goals.
