More NHL players added to Bulldogs playoff list By Garry McKay The Hamilton Spectator(Mar 5, 2007)
The Hamilton Bulldogs and their fans should be pleased with the AHL club's Clear Day (playoff) roster.
The Montreal Canadiens have included Jaroslav Halak, Maxim Lapierre, and Andrei Kostitsyn, all currently up with the NHL club, on the list of players that are eligible to play for the Dogs in the playoffs.
The list of 13 forwards, seven defencemen and two goaltenders are technically the only players who can play for the club for the rest of the regular season.
That's unless the club is in an emergency situation. If three players off the Clear Day list are up with NHL clubs or injured, the Dogs can then use a player off their in-residence list.
And for every player above the three, they can add another player from the in-residence list.
The Edmonton Oilers, who have a minor affiliation with the Dogs, have put tough guy Zack Stortini on Hamilton's playoff roster as well.
Bulldogs playoff roster:
Goaltenders: Yann Danis, Jaroslav Halak.
Defence: Andrew Archer, Andre Benoit, Mathieu Biron, Jean-Philippe Cote, Danny Groulx, Dan Jancevski, Ryan O'Byrne.
Forwards: Ajay Baines, Kyle Chipchura, Matt D'Agostini, Jonathan Ferland, Mikhail Grabovski, Andrei Kostitsyn, Maxim Lapierre, Francis Lemieux, Corey Locke, Eric Manlow, Duncan Milroy, Zack Stortini, Cory Urquhart.
In residence: Mathieu Aubin, Troy Bodie, Jimmy Bonneau, Cedrick Desjardins, Jon Gleed, Michael Lambert, Philippe Sauve.
The Bulldogs are already well past the triple emergency situation because they have Kostitsyn, Lapierre, Halak, and Stortini up in the NHL as well as

The impressive thing is that Cory Urquhart makes the cut after being a mid season call up after a really good season in the ECHL. He may finally be getting it, and moves ahead of guys like Michael Lambert who has been plagued with big bouts of inconsistency. He has size and skill, so just needed to learn to get his nose a bit dirtier and play a bit grittier to be able to adapt to the pro game.
He has put up decent numbers since his call up and something in his play earned him a roster spot all the way through the end of this season. He has also earned the praise of his coaches, which is a good endorsement. This being a contract season for him, it could not have come at a better time.
Still not sure if he will ever get a sniff of the bigs, but a 40th overall pick in the stud 2003 draft does come with some expectations.
As for the Dogs, they are having a good season with their "almost" full Habs roster. They are in a three way battle for top spot against the Moose and Amerks, and that is even with the incredible number of callups that they have had with both the Habs and the Oilers down the stretch. The good news is that Danis is back, so they have a pretty good tandem with Danis and Philipe Sauve who was "loaned" to the Dogs in exchange for Downey who is now playing in Providence.
