Sippin' on the morning java...when I found about about Mike Nesmith's passing. A big part of my childhood soundtrack as the Monkees were ubiquitous in the mid-60s. Only Mickey Dolenz remains.... Creative, talented dude...solid songwriter. He and Peter Tork were competent musicians, but played only on the Headquarters album after fighting against the studio musician system of the era (Wrecking Crew). Dolenz actually played drums on the album, too. The studio musician albums were more polished, of course...but there's a rawness/earthiness to Headquarters that I enjoy. A Nesmith tune (writer/lead vocalist) from that album. Nesmith also wrote this hit recorded by Linda Ronstadt.

Nice find, CH ... I don't know of any kids, back in the day, who weren't into the Monkees ... ubiquitous, indeed ... Michael Nesmith was the only member of the band my mom had any time for ... he was quite the talent ... RIP ... as an aside, I also see that Anne Rice (The Vampire Chronicles) passed as well ... RIP ...
Cheers.
