I don't know if the Kris Beach situation is being discussed anywhere else but I think it's got to be the worst coverup I've seen in the NHL.

What this kid had to go thru with the amount of people who knew and did nothing. Joe Paterno scandal in the NCAA is close and Penn State fired him and he was a God among men for the Lions.

I say the Black Hawks should be suspended for the year and all who is documented to have known should be thrown out of the league. Some may say it's too harsh. They ruined that kids life and not to mention is victims after the fact. It's disgusting and I don't think a 2 million$ fine is even close to enough. Make an exemple.

There was a ton of poor judgment going on with the Hawks at that time. Were they all dumbbells? Before I go into my reasons for this line of thinking, I want to make it clear I abhor any kind of sexual abuse. It harms people to the core and they are often ruined for life. Just consider the Residential schools program, the abuse and how indigenous people have had such high cases of alcoholism, drug abuse, etc. It started there.

But let's say you're the Hawks and you don't have the above attitude because of the culture, history, etc. You're in a battle for a Stanley Cup and you haven't won one since 1961. Ok, you're desperate. But you have a case of abuse on one hand and a video coach on the other. Do you honestly feel a video coach is that important to your chances of winning that you'll allow this pedophile to hang around the team, with everyone knowing what's happened and that will improve your chances of winning the Cup? I really don't think this excuse being tossed out about not wanting to upset the chemistry of the team or whatever crap they're suggesting is the reason they waited until after the Cup win to force a resignation (and then provide a letter of reference). If you are really disgusted by what the perp did, you don't let him celebrate, you don't let him take the Cup wherever, you don't put his name on the Cup and you send him as far as you can, immediately, fired from the biggest catapult you can find. None of that happened. Why?

Aye, there's the rub that there will be many possible explanations put forth. is the culture so damaged that this kind of behaviour is actually considered acceptable? He was a freaking video coach! Not Kane, not Toews, not someone who really mattered to the performance of the team, and it was accepted or a best ignored. It's a less crime, of course, but we see this attitude all the time with the Player Safety rulings. They're ludicrous. "You've just concussed someone badly, and probably reduced their career by several years. Well, that has to be worth a 1 game suspension. Boom, take that!"
