12-0? Man, seriously, those were the days.
Allen is starting to look and sound a little frustrated. He is top ten among NHL goalies in games/minutes played. There is no hope for this season. I would propose that the backup (Montembeault or whoever) begin to make at least a one game of every three contribution.
It would be nice if Caufield could get going, if nothing else at least on the power play. But this roster is so utterly devoid of offensive skill that, aside from Suzuki, there is literally no one to play with.

It's often said that before you can rehabilitate yourself from certain "ailments" you have to hit rock bottom. My hope, belief, is that we are now there. It took MB and Molson a long time of being in denial but rock bottom is usually what it takes to realize the need for significant change. We keep breaking franchise records for futility. And yes it hurts. But it is hopefully a worthwhile price to get better.
I would love to see the list for worst in franchise history under MB. And the records keep accumulating. Somehow seems an injustice that this terrible season will be recorded as under Gorts watch.

I would think so, Houle lost Roy after we got 2 cups out of him, but MB waster 10 years of Carey because of fear & ego

Love those pics of big Pete Mahovlich, one of my favorites from those 70s Habs teams. That guy was a load at 6'5" and the sea would part when he got a head of steam going through center ice. His production started to tail off by the 1976-77 season and was traded to Pittsburgh (ouch) early the next year for Pierre Larouche.

Will he be considered worse than Houle? I would think so, Houle lost Roy after we got 2 cups out of him, but MB waster 10 years of Carey because of fear & ego Reggie has the excuse of going from beer salesman to GM in a flash. Completely unprepared to be GM and Ronald Corey has to be considered one of the dumbest jackasses ever to be in a position of power. Houle, no GM or managing experience, Tremblay no coaching experience outside of his own inflated opinion. Just bring in the old guys because, you know, they were really good. Sure, let's hire that janitor to run that nuclear power plant because he used to clean it and knows it inside out. Anyway, the point is Houle was completely unprepared to be a GM. Bergevin at least had some experience in scouting, taking notes, and referring them to someone who would make decisions. Given Berg started several laps ahead of Reggie, the final results seem to end in a tie or worse for Berg. Reggie's last year his team finished one point above .500, and that was before the loser point era. It;s a toss-up, which in no way is complimentary to either one, though I sympathize with Houle for having to deal with Corey and Tremblay and Roy.

Almost his entire time as GM this club has been in the bottom half of the league offensively which is rediculous. you know carey will make the big saves when he has to but when the offense provided less than 2 GPG during his time in net ... the guy needs a shutout every night basically.

It's been a long time since Art Ross was even in our lobby.
Top 10 finishes since Lafleur's 3 consecutive scoring titles - '76 to '78.
3rd. Lafleur. 1978-79. 3rd. Lafleur. 1979-80. 8th. Naslund. 1985-86.

Could we have won the 86 Cup without Naslund's 19 points in 20 playoff games? Or Claude Lemieux's 16 points in 20 games? Despite having a goalie I consider better than Price?

So after 5 years at the helm he had not traded, drafted or signed a top 30 scorer for his next 5 years. Definitely worse than Houle!

The Habs trade Pete Mahovlich and Peter Lee to acquire Pierre "Don't call me Peter" Larouche Then eventually trade Larouche for the draft pick that turns into Petr Svoboda

After running around in our own end we get the puck for an odd man rush and Perreault falls down and dishes to Suzuki, who falls down after taking the pass. That's our season in a nutshell.
