Nice work, Dis. Bergevin made quite a number of good trades in ten years, but man that Sergachev-Drouin deal stings.
Is the new "taxi squad" flexibility confirmed by the league and the NHLPA going to make postponements extremely rare rather than common? I see that Tampa has Vasilevskiy and Elliott in Covid-protocol, so the Habs could pot a few if the boys get the puck to the danger areas more often than they normally do.

Most of the remaining Habs regulars added to COVID protocol. Most of the Rocket called up and/or on taxi squad. Let’s see if this game goes ahead.

Who is left that is not either injured or in protocol? Yikes.

The possible/probable lineup to go tonight. And still Caufield is getting fourth line assignment (lol), although that really is the second line if you list the lineup properly.

There's no way this game happens. If it does, the League is a joke, all about getting money and charging fans NHL prices to watch AHL hockey. And why should this game count in the standings when both teams don't have half their roster and are missing coaches. And why would you have a team travel in these conditions. I want to hear what Dr. Fauci thinks about this.

There's no way this game happens ... all about getting money and charging fans NHL prices to watch AHL hockey. It's always been about the buck$ ... If they can factor in a league-wide, multi-week shutdown for the Olympics, you'd think they'd be able to factor in a 2-week shutdown for Covid-19 ... having said that, many people believe in the science, but many others (have been made to) believe otherwise ... Fauci is one of the top in his field here on the entire planet, but his expertise is undermined by networks who need to keep controversy alive just to keep the ca$h flow going ... I'd like to think that Fauci would recommend shutting it down for a few weeks, but again, it's all about the buck$ ... Cheers.

Omicron cases are going to skyrocket so expect complete shut down or at least a border closure.
At least it's going to shorten the pain to a outright miserable season.

With the taxi squad approved, I believe that signals the league intends to forge ahead whether or not the on-ice product becomes a little sketchy on any given night.
The Canadian clubs are very likely going to have major surgery done their schedules (i.e. January on the road). But the games will go on because the big patrons who pay for the TV rights need games.

A whole lot of players could make their NHL debut over this stretch. Honestly, most pre-season lineups (with minimum vets to stay within the rules) look better than tonight’s.

The mass media is focused on new cases, because the numbers are bigger, of course, and they can scare more people. In Quebec and from what I can see so far in BC, the cases (as the media trumpets it) are at all time highs and increasing at a deadly rate. The Hospitalizations, however are not moving. If Omicron infects everybody and gives us a sneeze and sore throat, well (in the short run of course) it is meaningless. In the insurance business, they'd be writing up policies left, right and centre because while the occurrence risk is high, the impact risk is low, so it would be a great money maker. They sell you insurance in case you end up in ICU. Might as well write them a donation.

IMO, It has also become about control and people are getting covid fatigue, sick of hearing from fear mongers in politics and the media.

9 regulars are in Covid protocol and this game goes ahead? What a joke. Where's the integrity of competition?

Montreal is missing more guys, for sure. But in reality both rosters are rather depleted. It is what it is. Approving the taxi squad at this juncture of the season means that the league is determined to play the games whenever possible.
Paquette got his first point as a Hab. The fourth line worked hard.

No goal. Rule 11bHab, other wise known as "Brendan Gallagher involved in play and anywhere near goalie, crease, net"

Corey Perry does us a favor and ties it up with 20 seconds left. I don't want us to win another game. All in for Wright

Typical of Montreal Playing to not Lose Crap ... Tampa had the goalie pulled for 2:13 , and not once did MTL pressure the puck carrier. They just let them shoot shot after shot ...then Suzuki goes from hero (sacrificing his body to block a shot) to zero (getting in the way of a clearing attempt after blocking it) ... that's Montreal hockey

And the refs put the whistles away ... and Montreal lose after two trips in OT
Side note : last game we lost in the last 3 mins with comeback goals by Perry and Palat
Tonight we lose by comeback goals in the last 1 min and OT on goals by Perry and Palat
Perry the "Palat"ypus

Watching this guy on Team Canada has not been impressive. I did feel bad for the guys as they worked hard and, between the refs and the bad bounces, couldn't get it done. Having said all that, tonight's effort by less talented guys who work non-stop speaks volumes of the lack of effort we've been getting from our million dollar players.

In a season or two (?) we may have to fall hard for Bedard.
