Cole with a world class snipe... he's maturing before our eyes... he was very calm after scoring... like it is a regular thing... love it...

Arizona beat the Sens we need to lose this one And, there are some very despondent Senators' fans on Twitter ... they're preaching to the choir, man ... Cheers.

I can't be mad, disappointed, etc. This is great for the development of our kids, I am glad they are doing well. It's fun to watch them again.

Every single replay call in this game has gone Edmonton’s way … and if you think Gallagher wouldn’t have been called for interference on a similar play like Hyman’s, I had that exact same thought. I was actually hoping to see him score on a similar play to then see the officials either be forced to let it stand, or disallow it and make their unfairness blatantly obvious.

I was actually hoping to see him score on a similar play to then see the officials either be forced to let it stand, or disallow it and make their unfairness blatantly obvious. The absolute worst call of the night and perhaps the worst call I may have seen in a very long time was Gally's getting penalized for knocking the stick of the Oil sitting on the bench with his stick firmly on the ice and in play. WTF! I had to check the boxscore to see what was the infraction the ref called. It is listed as "Roughing". Are you kidding me? An Oiler on his bench has his stick not just over the boards, but actually on the ice. And Gally, who is on the ice legally, knocks it out of his way. How is that a penalty? If anything, the Oil should have got too many men. That's what I call looking real hard to be creative to invent penalties against a team and ignoring obvious penalties against the other team. Is the league really going to permit players on the bench to have their stick on the ice? Talk about changing the rules of the game. I would love to hear the ref explain that call.

Guys, my man crush on Suzuki just increased by a 100000000% I've said it before: give Suze the 'C'. He is a skilled genius who can lead and play in all situations. Reminds me of Yzerman who got the 'C' at a very young age. And Marty often has him playing 90 seconds on the PP. A lot of coaches play their studs 90 seconds (McD, Matthews). When was the last time a Hab was given that kind of PP TOI? It's a new era in Mtl and it's long overdue. This is going to be a fun ride with Marty and the kids!

If we can get some magic between a winger and a 2nd line C we are golden, cant leave everything up to the 1st line. A powerplay with CC, Suze and bGal had to have been the smallest forward line in nhl history

There was a goal scored where Gallagher was close to the crease and looked like he bumped the goalie after the puck went in the net … I thought for sure they were going to call it back.

I'm disappointed that we're winning as much as we are. Being the self appointed Devil's Advocate, it still looks to me like we don't have nearly enough talent. Many guys, freed from the shackles of the previous warden, are playing way over their heads. I'm not sure I've seen an opponent have a good game against us since MSL took over. That could be a) the team has been rejuvenated and are forcing other teams to look bad. I give that 30% of the credit. b) Other teams look at where we are in the standings and simply can't get up for the game, regardless of how much their coach warns them that the Habs are playing really well. I give that 50% (I've been the victim myself of that same thought process often enough in the past.) c) Even though other teams may be 'prepared' they're actually looking ahead to a game against a team high in the standings. The Flames played an excellent, very fast paced game against the Avs last night. I suspect their thoughts on Thursday weren't on the Habs, but the Avs. That's the remaining 20%
Yeah, glass half empty me. True, but the main reason is that looking up and down the line-up, we're just not that good.
Petry is playing better, but not at an elite level. After that, we're getting solid performances from Romanov (improving, but still young and inexperienced) Kulak (really?), Wideman (really?), Clague (I rest my case). Chiarot has 4 points in his last 4 games. When did he become Bobby Orr? I love it though...boosting that trade value.
Suzuki's line is a legitimate top line. I'm not sure how the other lines are made up (Hoffman-Dauphin-Gallagher?). One tweet last night stated, "I don't know how Hoffman can look so bad and still end up with two points at the end of the game". Gallagher looks like a worn out 30 year old winger. Dauphin is a career minor leaguer about to turn 27 who is playing very well (huh?). I love Lehkonen. Not saying anything negative about him. Poehling is an improving young guy. Can't wait to see him in a couple of years. Hell, even next year he should be much better. Perreault, Armia? Everyday bottom 3 guys. Pezzetta...role guy. Pitlick? Not sure about him. I always have to look him up on hockeydb, because I'm not sure it's Rem, Rhett or a sleep study.
Ok, long post...but the main point is that while there are some really good players on the team, there are a bunch more that make up a bottom 5 team. Yet we're producing like a top 5 team. Cognitive Dissonance and I keep waiting (and hoping) for the other shoe to drop. We need a top 5 pick, not a top 10 pick. Many of these players won't be around when the team is competitive, for good reason. If MSL can learn the other fine points of coaching as well as he knows his philosophy, we can be a top team for years (upper management already looks like its very much on the ball). What's lacking is overall talent and this spurt of wins is hurting that path. Marty needs to take a sabbatical until the end of the season. Professional development stuff. Win win.

I want to be disappointed, I really do. I want to drive the tank bus, but this feeling of optimism and enjoying them play hard and fresh... it's really kind of charming and invigorating as a fan. The draft is a crap shoot this year, there is no consensus really, so whether we draft 1st, 2nd, etc. is not as important for me. I don't think we will move much farther back than 3rd regardless (as long as the Yotes keep winning). And it's the fact that we are doing this with marginal guys who would not be in the lineup that is so great. Like, I am legitimately excited to see what Drouin will do with MSL as a mentor/coach. Will he finally be unlocked? Price in nets, Eddy back on D and defensive depth coming.. it's all very exciting really. What Roy is doing in the Q, Farrell, all these players will fit into MSL's system. I am super pumped.
