While the game was a bit entertaining, it was definitely a sloppy affair between two teams that just are not very good right now. The OT was not pretty, and the shootout was a hot mess.

Full marks for the pre-game ceremony. Folks at Bell Centre sure know how to do these things. I've seen all the tributes/athems at other rinks the past few weeks and all are very moving. But the artistry and power of last night's duet was beautiful. Tip of the Hat. The tradition of having the best pre-gamers in all of sport continues. Now we need to regain the most important tradition.

5 of 7 Habs' shootout attempts were very weak. I think Byron was the only one who actually got a hard shot on Grubauer. The last shootout Pitlick and Suzuki did very skilled moves .... I know you have to mix it up, but not getting a shot is nixing it up Koivu did the same move practically every shootout and scored most time. If I'm Pitlick, I go with the crazy fast right at the goalie move until it's stopped |

And the own goal on Larsson was rather amateurish. I have no idea how NHL refs could take Anderson off for roughing without Jarnkrok (maybe it is the European exemption whereby the officiating fraternity presumes Europeans cannot by nature engage in belligerent actions on the ice). That situation is so much a standard that I suspect it is mandated by whichever goofy department is in charge (it may not even be the officiating guys). If there's a scrum, only one team gets penalized and like you suggest, far too often it is the wrong team. It sounds like a Colin Campbell idea. |

Agree, Skilly... But I didn't mean to live in the past...or that "24 Cups" scares any opponent. I meant that, for fans, our past glory is nice to have while waiting for more. Better than not having it.  |
