Good news! I wonder if Hugo has any of our other college prospects on the radar for signings I hope so. There are a few interesting guys this year. They do seem to have a better feel for the NCAA than the previous administration. Meyers at Minnesota, a couple of forwards at Western Michigan (Frank and Worrad I think), the QC goalie Perets are just a few names to watch. They have to sign quite a few guys over the next two season, but these kids are freebies. We shall see, as there will be lots of compufrom other teams.

This is good news, indeed. It is impossible to prove, but something tells me if Molson had not kicked Bergevin to the curb then Harris walks away as a free agent.

With Harris aboard, i hope it's full speed ahead in turning Guhle, X, Harris, Barron, Mailleux and that veteran Romanov into our top 6.
Funny thing is when you search for habs defensive prospects Maillioux doesn't exist on some lists. Writers just can't let go their mirror licking, self serving righteousness.
Anywho...back to habs prospects. We have a pretty good pipeline of defensive prospects and if there is any focus in the draft, it should be goaltending and more centers.

We've talked about him before, but what does Jordan Harris bring to the table ...
Cheers.

Not sure any of those guys are "top pair" material. I'm really fascinated to see how Harris' game translates to the NHL. I have seen him three times in person and each time I have left wondering why he isn't more aggressive offensively. He has all the tools but prefers (or is coached) to play a safe game, using his excellent skating and lateral movement to kill plays, positioning to angle guys away from danger, etc. All that is fine but you'd like to see more offense, especially since he isn't a particularly big or physical player. If I could have one do over from the Bergevin era it's the Sergachev-Drouin trade.... we'd be in so much better shape.

#8 is available. Why does this team hand out linebacker numbers? Are they retiring Chiarot's number now?

The numbers. It's the one thing I like about how the Leafs do it - put numbers in the rafters for great players but don't retire them. Montreal has too many great hockey numbers that we'll never see again. You can still have #10 hanging in the rafters and on the ice at the same time. Of course, you can't have some scrub wearing #10 out there but you get the idea. Bring back the classic numbers.... and the home white jerseys!!

Dumbest thing (among others) that Matthews did was take #34. What the hell number is that? Selenium on the periodic table. Why not 26, Iron? Or 14, Dave Keon's old number? It would remind us of Keon (a winner) every time he skated onto the ice. Instead it's as forgettable a number as they come. 34. Not even a prime number. Seventeen would have been his best choice, but I'm really glad he didn't pick that. No numbers over 30. Tough luck Gretz.

There are a few, but lots of ifs. 1) Romanov. I think he has the potential, but the offense has to come out. It will take time to turn off the Julien/Ducharme brake lights. 2) Mailloux. Lots of ifs there. The physical talent may be there, but how tough is he mentally? 3) Struble. One characteristic that's important to me (for any star) is strength. This kid has hit, along with skating ability. Does he have enough in the rest of his game, once he stops getting injured? That's pretty well it. The other guys (Norlinder, Harris, Xhekaj, Fairbrother, Barron, Guhle) are all going to fit somewhere in the 2nd and 3rd pairing. Barron, Guhle and Norlinder have the potential to be very good 2nd pairing guys, but IMO, that's their ceiling. Norlinder may end up another Magnus Nygren and stay in Sweden. Who knows? Completely agree on the Drouin/Sergachev deal. That is now becoming Bergevin's single greatest mistake from a player standpoint. (The Organizational errors were worse). Sergachev, 33 points in 61 games, +15 and has become very responsible defensively. If Hedman's not there, he's on the first pair.

Agree on Struble. He's built like PK Subban. Thick, strong, and plays with an edge. A confident puck carrier, he likes to lug it, and has more offensive instincts than Harris. Not sure about his overall IQ and like Harris I thought he'd be miles ahead of where he was a freshman. With Harris gone, Struble should be the main guy on D at NU next season. If he could make a big jump that would be huge. Possibly the most upside of any dman in the pipeline but he needs to show more.

Possibly the most upside of all prospects. Not good that he is often injured and was badly beaten up in a fight he started. Sorry all the wokes out there but his infraction was consensual, not criminal, underage (him not her) and unspectacular for any ordinary not famous 17 year old. Not recommending that activity but not concerned at all! She brought on the publicity on herself.

I would not have drafted Mailloux, but I am not in any hurry to run him out of the organization now. He deserves a second chance.
Not to belabor points that were discussed at length many months ago, but the reality is that his contact with the girl was consensual while his dissemination of the photo to his teammates without her permission was in violation of Swedish law.
