Huge 4 point game - must lose. NJ is one of the teams that I fear will finish lower than us and thus get a higher pick. We've suffered too much to give up our great draft position now.
Unfortunately for Barron he is not on the trip due to injury. Fortunately for our push to lose games, Wideman or Clague should get to play.

Jersey are bad, especially when Hughes is not playing. Bratt is quite the player though.
With 12 to go, this is way more important in the standings in terms of getting a better pick.

NJ and Philly are in freefall mode and might not win another handful of games between them. Hopefully the hockey gods reward our spirited effort under MSL with some lottery luck.

I remember either Julien or Ducharme saying something about not teaching at that level. Talk about shoving that comment where the sun don 't shine. Perfect example of real coaching and results. I really liked both the fact MSL was giving Caufield a tip and then that he implemented it so well. Guys are so good at blocking shots these days that you have to find ways of creating space and CC certainly did that. Thanks for sharing that, Dis.

My memory of hockey and love for the Habs began in the 80s. Richer and Lemieux were certainly two of my favorites, immense talents. It is a shame that their careers in Montreal came off the rails. And, in general, it is a shame that the youthful, powerful core that Savard assembled in the mid-80s did not stay together longer.
Yes, big picture, it would be advantageous if the Devils could give their fans a victory tonight. I am not sure why the Habs are riding Allen so hard lately. The heater he was on is over. Wideman brings some offense, but he is also so overmatched down low and in front of the net, maybe New Jersey gets a greasy goal or two tonight leaning on Wideman.
Unlike the Ottawa game in which I anticipated intensity, I imagine this game will be a snooze fest.

I remember posters on here telling me that Players don't get taught at the NHL level , and it was up to the player to learn and figure it out I never understood the comment. Coaches, by definition coach, which is to instruct, direct, or prompt ... Good to see we finally have one

Caufield's assist was his 36th point, ties him with Ab McDonald on the Habs all time rookie scoring list
Caufield's goal was his 37th points, ties him for 34th place with Stephane Richer, on the all time Habs rookie scoring list

Shooting gallery on Allen tonight. They are leaving him hung out to dry, but Allen didn't get the tank memo

I remember Claude Lemieux being cut from his very first camp ... he put his fist through the car door window ... I might still have that in a scrapbook somewhere ... have an #44 red jersey that I picked up two years ago ... was considering a NJ jersey #44, but maybe in the future ... also remember Richer from the 1984 draft ... that year they drafted Petr Svoboda (1-5), Shayne Corson (1-8), Richer (2-29), and Patrick Roy (3-51) ... remember Lemieux was taken the year before, along with Sergio Momesso ... both were in the 2nd round, #'s 26 and 27 ... was a fan of Momesso's ... remember when he made the team and he was one of the team's better forwards when he sustained a knee injury ... he never got back into the lineup consistently after that ... had some good years with Vancouver ... dare I say, that 1983 is also Marc Bergevin's draft year ... for the rest, hockeydb.com refers ... Cheers.

I know it's plus/minus but when the number is high I think it signifies something. Mercer, Hamilton and Subban all at -4 tonight.

Please keep them coming. I look at his numbers now and play the what if game. I don't know if he could have kept up a PPG pace for the whole season but I believe he would have a healthy lead on the current rookie leaders.

Well good news is Flyers and Seattle won tonight. Too bad we did as well - particularly when we didn't deserve to. Switch goalies and we get blown out. Damn Allen.
Feel bad for Hammy. May have played his last game in the NHL. And insult to injury, he gets pulled after a goal scored by Dvo, assisted by Clague and Wideman - ouch!
Pretty sure we won't finish last and could be 5th or maybe 6th. That would hurt. Like I've said before, Marty was hired a month too soon.

The goalie situation for quite a few clubs heading into next season will be very unsettled. Maybe it is a combination of scoring being up this season along with a proliferation of non-competitive teams, but there are goalies seriously taking their lumps.

The only thing the Hamburgler is stealing is the common sense of GM's who keep acquiring his services. I also think Florida is being lulled into a false sense of security. They have come back from more than a few large deficits this year, mostly on the back of inept goaltending on the part of their opposition. That is much less likely to happen in the playoffs.
