I saw that earlier today... love the fact the roadrunner remembered speaking to Cole's father a year earlier... goes to the class Mr. Cournoyer and the other legends have... hopefully the young guns become legends and ambassadors for the team

Can't see why you wouldn't want to have those guys with that boatload of class and gravitas hanging around the team. Course, it might provide some kind of standard for comparison to, say, yourself?

Living legends.
Nice to see them welcomed back in this manner to inspire the new generation.
Wonderful conversation.

Yvan was always a class act. And he remains as sharp as ever. Good to see. Hopefully Cole absorbs it all!

Jealousy and arrogance are very powerful emotions in the minds of weak people... MB was and is a weak minded individual imo... I can see no other reason for treating the alumni the way he did... glad to see the back of him and his cohorts Would be neat if Cole worked on his speed over the summer

Great video spot.
I still find it hard to believe that a guy like Molson, who grew up revering the history and legends of the club, did not turf Bergevin many years ago for his shabby treatment of Canadien alumni.

Great video spot. I still find it hard to believe that a guy like Molson, who grew up revering the history and legends of the club, did not turf Bergevin many years ago for his shabby treatment of Canadien alumni. As much as we dislike MB, it ultimately all goes back to Molson. He made an error hiring MB and what was inexcusable is extending and and then not firing until the very end. And we are now in the position we are in. To hear Molson talk about his respect for the history of Le Club these past few weeks is the height of hypocrisy.

Bergevin was and is a con man. He did a good job on Molson, making him think he actually had a plan to turn the team around. He played his cards right. We have been told he was in touch with Molson at least once a week, keeping him informed, blah, blah. It's sucking up of course and even when Molson knows it's happening, he can still enjoy it in a twisted sort of way. Naturally, there was no reason to retain Berg after that first contract expired. He was burning up his core (PK was gone by this time and Patches had become Berg's excuse du jour). He had not fired Lefebvre despite 5 years of incredible ineptness. He was possibly the worst coach in professional hockey and Bergevin kept him employed. He had let Radulov go to Dallas, disrespected Markov, signed Alzner and then the Emperor lost his clothes when Price went down that season. Security blanket gone. That summer of 2017 was when he should have been booted. It would have spared us a ton of angst, but hey, Sam Pollock said you have to die to be reborn, so here we are, with what looks like a first class management team in place. Not sure it was worth it, but it's too late to turn the clock back.

I had concerns drafting a small player like Cole Caufield, but I'm glad Trevor Timmins drafted him, after all ...

I had this weak hope that either Caufield or Krebs would fall to us and (chuckle) they both did and we only had one pick. Darn. Either would have been excellent choices. The only guy who might be disappointed in hindsight is Gorton, who picked Kakko when there were at least a half dozen guys who are better right now and likely another half dozen who will be better. There probably wasn't much of a difference between Kakko and all those other guys at the time, but the others have leapfrogged him now.

That's the joys of having a top pick and there's a consensus of who should be picked. Go against the grain and it doesn't pan out and you are screwed. However the same can be said if you do take the consensus puck and others after pass him by. It's a no win situation.

one of the RDS guys was saying that when he was a rookie with the Habs, Mr Belliveau used to come and use the gym and talk to guys 10+ years after he retired. Imagine this team having to face Guy, Yvon and etc every once in a while. Don't think we'd finish last.

The torch thing was really hypocritical when you think of how much they pumped it while their actions were doing the exact opposite. That torch had been falling a long time. Con man Marc.

Con man Marc. here's to a glorious renewal of that torch passing. The last 20 years does not contain the kinds of players aforementioned but there is enough remaining from the older days to continue passing on the pride and tradition this franchise once had. may "les Gloriuex" be so once again.
