I'd like it to be Suzuki but I can see Gallagher or Edmunson being chosen.

Depends on how Hughes / MSL want to pick it
If the players choose it will be Mr Floppy
If management choose then it will be Suzuki

I would prefer Suzuki gets it. He is the club's 1C signed to a long-term contract as he enters his prime. Additionally, Suzuki proved a gamer in the playoffs.
With Montreal finishing last and changing management, it just feels like a changing of the guard is in order. Obviously Gallagher is all heart, but for me it seems a mistake to name a guy who is clearly declining, oft-injured, and associated so closely to the old regime.

No question it will be Suze. You need someone who will be one of the better players on the squad and will be with the team for awhile. Habs don't like having captains that will only be filling the void for a year or two; too much tradition and honour to give it to someone who won't be around long term. Gally has another year or two, and not at particularly high level. Eddy is Barclay Plager stuff, not Montreal Canadiens material.
And I don't believe it is a coincidence that we are starting to see Suze involved in all these community events.

Suzuki Makes the most sense, It is more than apparent the future of the organization is the plan at the moment and to be hopeful/honest i would even expect the players to recognize this and make the decision for Suze to be the guy.

Agree with everyone in regards to Suzuki. We really need to find a trade partner for Gallagher. He is a heart and soul player on the team and in reality should be above Suzuki for Captain role. I think he would be a good addition for the leafs and fill in the loss of grit of Hyman and Kadri brought them.

I'd trade bGal out west... cali or western canada I think we'll trade him in a year, hopefully after a bounceback season, for a similar contract. It's possible Western Canada will be happy to find him a slot somewhere, but no winning team will be able to take him unless the cap raises by at least 20%. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see one or both traded during or before the draft. Philly has been kicking tires with Montreal, not sure why, or who they are looking at...just some things that I've been hearing. |
