We had a 5'8" defenseman that had vision and could skate.
Gone.
They can all be fun and exciting but i preffer winning. Unless he's off the charts in talent, unless someone can claim he's Makar Jr, i would of picked other promising players.
Whatever....

His doctors think he has a couple of inches of growth in him... if he makes it to 5'10 there is room for a talented guy at that size. We wanted high-potential, high-risk picks ? This is pretty much the definition of that...

This is pretty much the definition of that... Krug is 5'9. Sam Girard and Quinn Hughes are 5'10. Even Makar is only 5'11. Size need not be a limiting factor if the skill is there, especially if he does add those two inches.

I love this pick. I believe it is great value #62. Hockey smarts, elite puck mover, and great skating check a lot of boxes.
Yes, he is tiny. But even if he does not get taller, his body has to fill out. I cannot recall if Krug was stout when he arrived on campus at Michigan State, yet there is no denying NHL version Krug is plenty thick for a short guy. Hutson cannot play in the NHL unless he gets a lot stronger. I assume he will.

5'8" and 158 pounds.
The same argument that really big guys who excel in juniors doesn't mean much when comming across man in NHL, same thing for tiny guys with great results in juniors doesnt mean much when they face guys 50% bigger then them in the NHL.
He's so small that unless he's elite in a few aspects, it's a waste of pick.
I like to be wrong...but unlikely. So there is always hope...

I saw his ppg compared to other USNTDP d-men at the same age snd it was startling. He was not only better, but about 50% better than guys like Werenski and 30% better than Quinn Hughes and Adam Fox. Offensively he is dynamic. His size, defensively, causes huge problems. Habs are gambling he’ll grow some and fill out. If he does, he’ll be amazing.

Frankie boubou was only 5'8" and he was tough as nails... if this kid can fill out like him, and maintain his skill level, we will be very happy. And if he doesn't we have a powerplay quarterback

People are saying if it wasn't for his size, he'd be a top 5 pick overall. I'm happy with the pick. Hopefully he gets a little growth spurt the next couple years and reaches 5'11.
