A cap dump by the sens, took futures... sent Murray, a Third-round pick (2023) and a Seventh-round pick (2024)
over the past 3 years Campbell had a .917 save percentageage... Murray was .898 over the past 3 years
Looks like Leaf fans are not impressed, saying they should have kept Campbell..

Some of the comments - "Leafs get a 3rd rounder to take Murray at $4.75MM and give up a first rounder to dump Mrazek"
True, but they neglected to say Leafs also got Chicago's 2nd rounder next year, so really it was dropping probably 7-10 spots in a different draft year. If 2023 is deeper than 2022, Leafs may actually be able to get a better prospect than Sam Rinzel. One can criticize the trade based on whether Murray is a better keeper than Mrazek, but the return for Rinzel will have to wait before we can judge that part of the deal. Murray had a good stretch of play before he was re-injured for Ottawa last season, so I suspect the Leafs are gambling that was the real Murray. Proof will come later.

Murray's numbers have been in decline for about 3 years now. He just hasn't looked like the guy that won 2 Cups in Pitsburgh.
I'm not a Campbell fan but at this time I think he's better than Murray.

And then they get Talbot from Minny. They have upgraded. That trade was Gustavsson for Talbot straight up.

Campbell played well for the leafs but it's always the goalies fault in TO.. the four floaties up front never get blamed.

So the Oilers improved in net, but the Leafs got…different guys.

When leaf fans on sportsnet are complaining or the usual leaf fan boys aren't posting, you know it's not good

If they are paying Murray 4.6, why couldn't they pay Campbell 5? Did they not want to commit to 5 years? I guess they didn't believe in him as much as they said they did.

It might be that Campbell wanted out.

If they get past the 1st round, they can blame Campbell and Dubas protects the 4 fairies up front
