Habs highest paid defender, and the one with the longest contract, is now local lad Matheson.
Double ouch.

Ouch is right. Matheson is making 4.8 for the next 4 years.
Poehling and Petry were due to make 7 million combined.
What happens to the patience that Hughes was preaching? He said that he was prepare who open the season with Petry in the lineup.

Habs get Matheson and a fourth. Ouch. Matheson has a big contract too, so a “little” cap saving and the RHD is ugly. Jordan Harris is comfortable at RD and then there’s David Savard. Wideman is an emergency RD, so we need one more. No one good cause we’re still battling with Arizona and Chicago for a franchise player. So far the plan seems to be working. Lots of ice time available for the kids and no improvement of the type (other than internal growth) that might move us up the standings. Michkov might be the best player available but the Russian factor will affect his pick. Too bad we can’t have 2 top 5 picks. My hopes rest with Florida and some untimely injuries. Bedard is still the prize (so far). |
