Rink will be filled with Habs fans. Sorry Sens, but the Habs have a national following and it's particularly strong in provinces that do not have a NHL franchise. Hopefully Les Boys put on a show for the faithful! Too bad Captain Nick will not be playing.
Looking forward to the hi-lights and the fans' delirium!

Dis, cool picture . I see the Granby Bisons logo and figure that this is a pic of Patrick Roy. October 5th is his birthday after all.
Interesting coincidence that Mario Lemieux was born on the same day and year. Two of the best players of their generation came into the world on the same day.

MSL has the lineup blender in full swing tonight with Suzuki out and no Drouin (no idea). I think the main reason Bowey is playing is he was injured through most of camp so they need to see him in another game.
Oh well, Gander fans will at least get to see a more talented lineup than previous preseason versions. Defense is still going to be an adventure against proper NHL lineups though.
Weird that this game is only televised on TVAS. Don’t get me started on what would be happening if the Leafs were involved. 😡

Slafs-Dvo-Anderson: that's one big line with some speed. Maybe it will gel and be known as the Monster Line.

So much for that. The bias is there on full display. Two Canadian teams & no English broadcast. Those regular season heroes could be playing an ECHL team and Sportsnet & TSN would be fighting over the rights. If I lived in Gander I would be really PO'd.

I see Monahan centering the top line. Call me crazy, but I think if MSL is looking to complete the top line when season starts, Caufield Suzuki and Monahan might make the best combination. I like Anderson for what he provides, but once he's got the puck, he's got blinders on, and sees nothing but net. I think Monahan can u8tilize his linemates better. At least until Slaf is ready. He might be better playing with Anderson and learning the bulldozer through the china shop type of game.

Looks like one change on D. Barron in and Matheson gets to sit.

This is the cool stuff about these Hockeyville games.
Back to the television fiasco about these games. If I was Kraft Canada, I would be pretty miffed that my annual donation to small community minor hockey and facilities was not worthy of CBC or Sportnet exposure. Instead, it is relegated to a small intermission clip featuring Bettman announcing the annual winner. Give these small communities more love Sportnet.

Rem Pitlick was the roving reporter as the team walked into the arena. He grabbed a mic and stated something like “only in Newfoundland are fans lined up so early”
Cole Caufield stopped to talk to two young fans. He signed one of their foreheads

Love it... primeau stops the puck and stutzle skates in too close to him and Axe puts stutze on his ass...
Sens fans are crying but they forget when the walrus was their coach how dirty the Hens were
Edit: I live in Ottawa and I need to buy an Axe jersey and go for a walk

AXE VS Watson

I did not watch the game, only the highlights. Management knows the combination of a young blue line, quite a few forwards less than stellar defensively, and a terrible PK will be hard on the goalies this season. But it is what it is. No one who shakes loose on waivers after the weekend is likely to represent much of an upgrade, though personally I would have no problem with starting the majority of the young d-men in Laval.
Well, the Sens do not have anyone in their lineup as tough as Xhekaj. Watson looked like his only plan was to execute a very defensive bout against the axe man.

The two takes above are humourous. An Ottawa fan thinks Axeman's 'interfering', while we Habs fans (correctly of course) see Axeman as sending an absolutely clear commandment, "Thou shall not touch our goalie, or even pretend to". There's no need to be a jerk, but if you let a team get away with those little things, they become emboldened.
This is why I wonder if Axeman might make the team. I feel more comfortable with Harris back there, but he doesn't have the deterrent factor and with the skilled kids in the line-up, and to firm up the backbone of some vets too, a nuclear factor is required.

Dive-sle learned that move from tkjerk... there always rush the net whenever the goalie stops the puck...
Even on Team1200 one of the personalities said Axe I'd a package that will be hard to deal with.

As for which young D makes the team. I have one question. What is best for each individual player. After seeing all the prospects flame out of hear over the years, or decades. We should not be putting players in situations to harm them over the long term. If it's best that a player go down to Laval, so be it. You can call him back in a month or two or try again next year. Whatever. Guhle seams ready. the rest not so much. Get nobodies off of waivers and plug the holes on the big team if that's what is required. We're not going anywhere this year anyways.
