I would have to go back and look, but I thought Harris and Kovacevic were the d-pair on the ice when the hit happened. I know Pitlick was the other winger.
Being a young team in a league where a lot of dudes look for any mental or emotional edge they can get, Montreal needs to be prepared for the physical stuff.
I like that management is making the Habs a bigger (and faster) team. That bodes well for the future. And I think it is smart to almost always have a couple of guys dressed who are "crazy" enough to keep the other team honest.

Me too. I may think he can be improved upon (even 4th lines have to be a bit productive), but he probably would have done something in this game. Was Wifi held back? I missed the game. Wifi wanted at the goof but refs wouldn't let him. What pissed me off is Evanson put the goof out there on the PP with a minute to go in a 4-1 game. He had to know he was a marked man. Refs should have said, if you put him out here, don't look to us to protect him. Yeah, but if you don't put him out, the cries of 'chicken' start. Really, no choice.

This is why X has to remain in the lineup.

I am not sure what St. Louis, Robidas, and management have in mind when Edmundson and Matheson recover from their injuries. However, I agree that doing without Xhekaj would be problematic.
Also, Montreal cannot continue to carry 15 forwards on the roster. I suspect a vet or two may have already been briefed by management about the likelihood of joining the Rocket in the not so distant future. It is what it is. If a guy with a highly distinguished NHL career like Simmonds has already been sent packing to the Marlies twice this season, I cannot imagine why protecting the feelings of guys like Dadonov or Drouin will be a big issue.

This might even explain the iffy play of a guy like Dadonov. I thought at least one of him, Drouin and Hoffman would get into a comfort zone where they produce and the coaches can live with the miscues... but no such luck.

These guys know the contract they have right now is the largest aav they will ever get,no GM will give them what they make now... so either they don't care, they have no heart or they're stupid and don't understand the implications of their uninspired play.
