For sure, Allen stood on his head in this one. The penalty killers were excellent too. The boys were blocking shots left and right. The Dvorak line played efficient, simple hockey and it paid off.

The officiating was beyond horrendous. It is ironic that when a few of the lousy old refs in the NHL finally retire they are inevitably replaced by young ones every bit as bad (and more thin skinned) than the old goats they replaced.

I am not saying the Habs will get hot this month, but nevertheless this just feels like a good team bonding type win against all odds.

He’s a talented goal scorer. Doesn’t work hard. His teams never win championships, and he usually treats defense like soiled underwear but given a chance he can score.

If cursing is 2 minutes then Savard should have got 5 seconds for suggesting the ref look at the replay and see he botched the call. Of course 5 seconds becomes 10 minutes if the ref has a low self esteem and is crushed when someone challenges his poor call.

So is Slafs getting a 2 game suspension? Seemed very similar to Josh's hit and even same location on ice. But Slafs guy was off balance and very vulnerable.

The difference in the two hits is the distance travelled prior to making the hit.

Drouin, Hoffman, Savard and Dadonov sure take a beating in every game thread. Can't we pick on someone new? I mean, Jake Allen was a disaster last night. He stole 2 points that we didn't deserve! Personally, I'm outraged.

I've seen a few of these lately and while I can still see that there is danger involved, sometimes it seems like the guy being hit isnt' THAT close to the boards. And it also looked, as you say, that he was off balance. But you can't penalize the hitter too much because the game is really fast and if the victim is solidly planted at first and then off balance a split second later, it's really hard to pull up. A fair punishment IMO, is one game, because Luff wasn't that close to the boards when he was hit.

Come on Marty ! NEVER EVER put Drouin on the point on the PP. I'd like to see Guhle and Harris on the second PP unit. You are playing with fire with 4 forwards on the PP.
