During Montreal's retool in the early-mid 1980s, it was not uncommon for Serge Savard to have the hot hand at the draft table. Lemieux 26th overall and Richer 29th overall. Man, those guys had immense NHL careers.
Well, Slafkovsky is set to return so an underperforming winger will need to sit. I imagine Dadonov is the chosen one.
Like you say, Willie, the Devils' start to the season has been nothing short of remarkable. Allen's pedestrian performance against the Pens probably opens the door for Montembeault to get the start Tuesday.

Last year I centered on Cole Caufield's rookie season. This year, I'll follow Kaiden Guhle's rookie campaign
Kaiden Guhle already has set a Habs rookie record. Albeit, an obscure one. Guhle has amassed the most assists by a defenseman under 21 in his first 15 games (6).
These six assists are also 4th overall, tying him with Geoffrion and Koivu
Currently Guhle has 7 points
This has him tied for 44th on the Habs rookie defensemen list. Tied with the following:
Noel Picard (1964-65 - 16 games)
Ryan O'Byrne (2007-08 - 33 games)
Greg Pateryn (2015-16 - 38 games)
Viktor Mete (2017-18 - 49 games)
Alexei Emelin (2011-12 - 67 games)

Not really liking the uniform. Two shades of blue on the jersey & another shade on the pants.
In another thread someone - sorry, dont remember who - suggested a Maroons based uni. I saw a rendition with the Habs logo & thought it looked much better than what they ate wearing tonight.

They could have made these jersey a little better by making look more like the Nordiques blue with the Fleur de lys around the border, than making look like the most obscure of Expos looks |

Well, that was a very entertaining 20 minutes of scoreless hockey. The boys have created some glorious scoring chances but a combination of poor sniping and Vanecek stifled all efforts.
