Very strange game. We were the better team against a weak line-up. But poor decision making, bad goaltending and lack of ability to find the net will kill you every time.
Don't know how Nick got the 3rd star. So he got a fluke assist and a goal on a bad goalie. But otherwise he has been in funk the last 2 games. Cole not much better, and we will rarely win without that line clicking.

As for the rookies:
Guhle is going to be a stud at both ends of the ice.
Slafs continues to show his potential - could be scary dude.
X continues to show his skills but needs to improve his decision making.
Harris continues to show he is the likely candidate to sit when Maths returns.

Harris has struggled a bit that's for sure... slaf is learning to use his body and good thing will follow... Evans looks motivated with slaf on his line they were buzzing all night. Can we please keep Hoffman and Gallagher off the 1st pp and enough with the 5 forwards... Cc-suze-dvorak Guhle - dach Slaf-Monahan-anderson Matheson - Xhekaj

Given how depleted Columbus’ lineup was, I had this one pencilled in as a win for les boys. Shows what I know.
I guess it does show that the season does balance itself out as there have been a few wins lately that I did not see coming. Regressing to the mean.

I only saw the highlights but what was up with the over celebrating especially Kuraly after an empty netter?
Seemed like kind if a d!ckhead move.

A lot of that stuff would go away if EN goals weren’t included in personal stats.

Most guys just slide the puck in. Kuraly wristed it hard for no reason. I thought it was a jerky move & maybe Dach felt the same way.

Stop them, and odds of winning against MTL are pretty damn high.

They probably won't do this for several reasons (mostly defensive), but putting Slafkovsky on the top line and moving Dach to the second line to play with Monahan would be interesting. Or moving Evans to the top line (RW) for defensive purposes and shifting Dach and Slaf to #2 with Monahan would also be interesting. But it might hurt to the tank, so no tanks.

Moving Dach may be an issue.
I suspect that Dach considers CC and Suzuki his peers and plays up to their level.
This my not translate as well with inferior linemates.

Gotta laugh at Caufield. “I’d miss that all day”
Olivier - “He’s one nasty dude”. Wonder if that was in reference to Xhekaj?

Moreover, I see Dach as still fragile. I think he should be allowed to thrive with Suze and CC for some time before he is moved - get his swagger fully entrenched.

I'm ok with this until the end of the calendar year because the questions remains "who will mentor Dach when he moves to Centre?" Monahan is the only guy on the team who can do this... Which is why putting him with Monahan after the Christmas might be a good idea. If they plan on keeping Monahan, then no rush, but if they are going to move Monahan at the TDL, then give Dach a few months with him. Personally a 2nd line of Monahan-Dach- Slaf would be very cool
