Shane Wright will be playing in this one.
We might be just what the doctor ordered to get his NHL career back on track

Little weird to see Dadonov on the PP with Suzuki, Caufield and Dach ... that's how bad the PP is, we have to resort to Dadonov. Safest place to be is in the net, cause he ain't hitting it

Habs score first. Kovacevic scores from the point, assists to Matheson and Dach

Wright had a good chance earlier, right in the slot, but didn't elevate the puck, ignoring Seventeen's 3rd commandment 3. ROOF IT.

Not sure what Evans was doing behind the net .... but he is another we need to send packing at the deadline

Lots of mistakes there. Kovacevic makes not the best pass to Mathieson, who doesn't make a good play, trying to go against the play and then Kovacevic is late to take Wright in the slot and this time, he roofs it.

TWICE Montreal forwards blindly try to flip it out on the PK and fail. Slap the damn thing as hard as you can out of the zone

Seattle starts off their existence with the second and the following year the fourth overall picks, and then heads right for the Purgatory gate to ensure they get those nice mid round picks. Oh well, guess an expansion team has to try to satisfy their fans quickly.
Man, Slafkovsly working his butt off behind the Seattle net, fighting off 3 Kraken and Pitlick stands there, 10 feet away and doesn't at least get close to grab a loose puck. It comes loose of course, and finally, Pitlick moves in the chase the Kraken with the puck. Far too late of course, but my, didn't he work hard to backcheck. What a dork. No wonder he cleared waivers.

Except Wright is Evans man ... It doesn't really matter whose man it is, but when a guy is standing right in front of the net, completely alone, you don't stand by the side of the net watching the puck. Someone has to take him and Evans has to switch off on wherever Kovacevic should be.

Only 2 players drafted in 2022 have points in the NHL.
Slafkovsky has 7 points in 21 games
Wright has 2 points in 8 games
Bets on who gets the most points in his career?

I hear what you are saying, but when the other team's center is alone in front of the net, what is our center doing behind our net?

It doesn't really matter whose man it is, but when a guy is standing right in front of the net, completely alone, you don't stand by the side of the net watching the puck. Someone has to take him and Evans has to switch off on wherever Kovacevic should be. I hear what you are saying, but when the other team's center is alone in front of the net, what is our center doing behind our net? Oh, I agree. Evans may have thought it was 2 against one (Mathieson) and went to help, but it's not often you score from behind the net. Much more dangerous out front. Bad reads....maybe Evans is supposed to support his dman. I don't know what MSL expects. Kovacevic was just slow to get back into the play. In the old days (being a dinosaur again), there was always someone from your team in front of the net. That hasn't changed, but Wright was the only guy in front on that play. Last night, too, Mikhayev wasn't watched closely enough and Pettersson gave him that pass (from behind the net again) to have him score. And to answer your other question, I'll go with Slaf for more points in his career. Wright is more of a finished product than Slaf right now. Slaf's ceiling is higher, so that's my choice and I'm sticking with it. The Seattle broadcast crew is annnoying. It's like they're an expansion team as well.

Dach won't get an assist on the Caufield goal but his stick check affected that outlet pass that Suzuki intercepted.

Wow, the offensive explosion to start the second. Suzuki and Caufield with space off the turnover must be a helpless feeling for a goalie. Anderson skating hard to daylight to receive a pretty pass on the rush.
That defensive coverage on the goal was terrible. But to Wright's credit, he looked good in the first period. Maybe Hakstol will see that banishing a kid to the press box or burying a kid on the fourth line with plumbers is foolish. The kid is motivated tonight, sure. But having a couple nice linemates (Bjorkstrom and Gourde) certainly helps the cause.
