Marty is not a happy camper Completely agree with Marty, except I have no problem with Dach taking the extra 2 and calling the ref out (but why is 2 and not a 10 minute misconduct?). That was one badly reffed game with almost all the bad calls going against Habs. Dachs interference on Chuckhead was ridiculous - Chuckhead had the puck up to a second before they both started fighting for it. The call on Harris was hopeless as Harris lifted the guy's stick and did not touch the hands. And at that point of the game, the ref better be damn sure. And then there was Josh's phantom glove pass, and Eddy's high stick on Armia, both leading to whistles only to have the refs realize they had botched it. And a few blown icing calls, again all in Sens favour. Loved having Habs fans booing refs in Sens' building.

For sure, this is tough to watch. The special teams are awful. The coaches have been doing well wringing .500 hockey out of a very limited roster. I continue to see this edition of the Canadien as a mortal lock to be bottom 10. And to be honest, there are really only six teams (Anaheim, Arizona, Chicago, Columbus, Philadelphia, San Jose) that I judge to worse on paper. I'm good with the loss and the tank. I predicted Sens and Buff would be ahead of us by Xmas and the plan is unfolding. I haven't given up on Columbus getting some momentum, and SJ may surprise as well. And maybe Flyers. But 7th overall pick is fine and who knows with the lottery?

It's is hard to believe we are playing with 4 rookie defensemen and Wideman. How are we in any of these games? Particularly with only one legit centre, and Hoffman, Drouin. This team is playing way above it's abilities.

Train-wreck game so far. EDIT: Not that I think Marty should've called for a review...but...Batherson was in the crease and his skate was touching Monty's skate, arguably preventing any pad stretch to recover.... I've seen less reviewed. We never win those calls. I saw that too and thought for sure they’d review. Marty may be gun-shy about us tiring out the PKers

Drouin on the point on the pp... really Marty? I don't see what they are trying to do. Drouin is useless period. Should not even be out on the PP. Put Wifi and Guhle on the point- Come on Man !

Drouin did make any egregious mistakes on the power play (aside from not being a threat to shoot), but I concur Xhekaj or Guhle make a lot more sense. It is perhaps not crazy for some teams in the league to go with five forwards. However, Montreal does not really have a forward to effectively work the point, whether or not that particular individual is cast in the role of power play quarterback or not.

It's a strange tactic. But, of all the things that MSL is trying that are original, this one is the least effective and one wonders if he has the right guy in charge. Does Burrows really see things that we don't? the key to a PP these days is getting the goalie moving and getting a puck through for a clean shot as he is moving. That's obvious to most 10 year olds. And yet, what do we see on the Habs PP that enocurages that? Five forwards, five defenseman, five goalies. Who cares as long as they move the puck well enough to create those openings. We haven't seen a lot of passes through the Royal Road, right? Just watch some other PP's (Edmonton's and Vancouver's come to mind and I see a lot of those RR passes. They work to create enough space to execute those passes, or they just have some passing unicorn who can do it all the time. Along with a guy who can one time it. Gee, we even have one of those rare creatures.

He didn't stand out which means he didn't do anything great or anything awful. It was his first game back in a fast paced game. Let's cut him some slack for a few games. Maybe we'll see something today vs the Ducks.

If i was coaching i would have the five man power play unit form a pentagon and do high speed passing to each other for half an hour. Move the puck around constantly at lightning speed.
In any given power play, it doesn't take more the 4-5 passes to break the other teams defensive box formation AND catch the goalie out of position. That is where CC and Suzukis deadly shots can pay off.
The second power play unit? Can we decline the PP?

If Dach didn't give the offical a two hander then there was NO abuse of the officials.
What has the world come to when officials can claim hurt feelings?

Tkajerk has been taking diving lessons from stutzle... Kirby knocked him down... wifi knocked hom down... maybe he's only tough when guys are smaller than him.
