I agree, seventeen. I think St. Louis needs an assistant (or associate, whatever sounds fancier) with serious credentials in teaching/implementing systems. Burrows and Robidas have rather thin coaching CVs. Letowski has coached for years but who knows maybe he is not that great.
Larry Robinson is obviously a pipe dream because he wants to enjoy life and wants nothing to do with the day to day grind of being behind the bench. And maybe an old hand like Jacques Martin is not interested in returning to the NHL, but someone like him would not be bad idea.

Adding to "what ar3 they suppose to do?" Remember when we had a top 10 scoring first line center? It was only 1 month ago. Well he is 68th now Being competitive, keeps these guys engaged and producing and yields hope. Suzuki is currently a part of the problem. Losing, and losing bad, is very hard for even the best of players to keep trying, keep producing. Suzuki has 1 point in the last 7 games. 3 in the last 12. He was a playing at over a point a game pace, and a guy with 22 goals and 9, NINE!! assists is about to pass him for the team lead in scoring. We can't rely on one person to score. Our third leading scorer also has 66% of his points as goals (Josh Anderson). On paper it doesn't look good, on the ice it looks worse. They do not play as a cohesive unit, still, after half a season. I'm not disagreeing with you, they need to be competitive but sadly I think the loss of a real #2 centre in Monahan has hurt this team... he's got high hockey iq and makes those around him better... Dvo is our #2. Big difference... and it shows on the ice I also think Suze is trying to do it all...he went 1 on 4 in the 1st... he normally wouldn't do it

It is a good thing Montreal does not really need to trade Edmundson this season (I take Hughes at his word that he does not have any interest in retaining on multiple years) because the big man is not playing well at all. This is not a special indictment of him because the entirety of the Habs d-corps is scrambling and reacting out there. But on the Nashville fourth goal, man Edmundson has to be the linchpin in breaking up that cycle early. That is his forte and it sure did not happen.

They really need to change the high stick rule. Since they have ZERO way of determining the point of contact on the stick in relation to the cross bar , they need to make ALL high sticks be in relation to a players shoulders and not care if a player is taller than another Wasn't that the old rule- stick above the shoulder? Stick above shoulder is the rule for just high sticking a puck in play. But the rule for high sticking a puck for a goal, is that it has to be below the cross bar. So you CAN bat a puck out of the air that's above the cross bar but below your shoulder to a teammate, but you can't bat a puck out of the air like that into the net.

Anthony Richard showing us why he should be in Laval. Completely clueless as to where he should be. Right wingers are responsible for the left D but there he was, nearly at the other side chasing the puck. The guy he went to was already covered. That didn’t seem to clue in and Josi had a clear lane to the goal. Bring up Ylonen, already.

Edmundson and Monahan to Colorado for Bowen Byram. Retain on Monahan to help CAP work out.

This week Marty said "Everything in life has an expiry date, even patience" .... I fear the players might also be losing patience / confidence in the coaches

Jeje, I will drive Edmundson and Monahan to the airport on very short notice. Colorado may have an interest in Monahan, though I doubt they have much asset juice to make anything happen, I would think Edmundson is not on their radar.

In that last 9 games Montreal is 1-7-1. Of those 7 losses, 6 were by more than 3 goals.
Conversely, in the previous 29 games, Montreal lost 6 by 3 goals or more.

Only 6-2. MASSIVE improvement.
Any time a team improves by 33.3333333%, you know it's a bonus.
Forwards and downwards...

I fear the players might also be losing patience / confidence in the coaches I'm not sure you can blame the coaches for that. Heck, ask folatre as his kids probably play at a level where you learn that basic structure. If you're a winger, you don't race all over the ice to chase the puck. Not in your own zone. Richard had to know where his spot was, he just chose to not stay there. Self discipline. Trying to do too much sometimes, brain cramps at others. You will never see Artturi Lehkonen do that.

He's playing like crap now, but was fairly solid in the playoffs and that's what would make him enticing. He's one of those 'get you through the playoffs' guys. Also, his salary isn't too much and only 1 more year after this one. there might need to be a sweetener involved, but Colorado's window is the next couple of years and it starts to fade after that. Mackinnon's extension is going to hurt.

Man, these games are getting hard to watch. So many dumb mistakes by just about everyone.
Eddy was atrocious from the delay of game through to the poor coverage.
Having my doubts about Barron. Richard is another Hudon.
Does anyone really think Slafs was better served playing 11 minutes on the 4th line than being in Halifax with his countrymen?

On the bright side I thought Drouin (gasp) looked interested in the 3rd period and was one of the few guys making things happen.

I also have my doubts about Barron, although, it is a small sample. I find he and Harris are out muscled far to often. I like Harris' hockey IQ, but man he struggles against bigger forwards. Wifi is quickly becoming our best D man and they still don't play him on the PP.
