I expect another loss...onward and downward

This road trip has been a disaster and it would surprise me if it does not conclude with a loss. The Habs give up too many high quality scoring chances and the goalies are no longer holding the fort. The boys also take too many penalties, which is also tough on the guys in net.
Nashville is underperforming this season, given their regular season renaissance last season. So I suppose two more points in the bank will create more separation between teams like the Preds who will likely miss the playoffs and teams like the Habs who are clearly bottom 5-7 type bad.

Progress is...to not lose by a touchdown...or at least make it 7-6
We have an opportunity to sink lower in the standings and a 12 game losing streak will help.
Yup, it's come down to wishing for failure...*cries quietly*

Oh come on, no Armia on the PP tonight. Sad days.

Armia is such an enigma. I keep cheering for him.
All too infrequently, he's demonstrated surprisingly soft hands, good vision, nice speed, board toughness.
Should/could be a 3rd line offensive driver...as well as a shutdown guy.
Never turned that corner. He's 29. Too late?

To have even a 10% chance at him is worth it.

On you tube they have a vid of all of the Habs goals in the playoff run...Armia was really strong and scored some timely goals, along with Byron. We miss Byron's speed...

After a bad season last year, he was actually very good at the World Championships in the spring. I had some hope that he would come to camp able to tap back into even a fraction of that player. But alas, he reverted back into the Habs version of the Invisible Man. At least in the past, he would have a game every ten or so where he showed that promise of what he could have been. Unfortunately, half a season has passed with nary a sign of that player. A few more years to come of this as well as who will trade for a $3.4M guy with no goals?

To buy out Armia it's 1M, then 1.4M and 1.4M...

Edmundson with yet another over the glass penalty. He has to be close to leading the league in that

Edmundson scoops the puck over the glass and we’re down a man. Anderson out as a penalty killer. 1-0 Nashville. Tipped shot. Pretty high.

They really need to change the high stick rule. Since they have ZERO way of determining the point of contact on the stick in relation to the cross bar , they need to make ALL high sticks be in relation to a players shoulders and not care if a player is taller than another

So easy to play against us. Marty meeds to improve defensive discipline (by all players). Can he?

Which Habs' player received that pass in the neutral zone and was stripped of it leading to the 2-0 goal? Too easy.
I'm watching on a stream, no volume, and can't rewind. Thanks...

I feel bad for these guys having their moms on the roadtrip and having their asses handed to them every night.

I’m not sure we’re even a sieve. The holes are much bigger than that. There are too many wide open opponents. Nashville is not a scoring machine but they have 3 goals in 10 minutes. That’s pathetic. Its way too easy. I have to put that on St Louis. He knows his strengths. They do not include experience with systems and game management. His assistants are no help in those areas. We need a former head coach who would be happy being an assistant with little pressure but who can fill in the weakness gaps. Its not an issue right now but it has to be better next year, or we will never be a contender.

Will St. Louis be around to see the rebuild if they continue to lose by 5 goals a night? I doubt it
I realize everyone is looking to the pot of gold at the end of this process. But it may not even be there. Losing like this is not good for the club culture. It will have damning effects for a long time.

Trade all the young kids and picks for vets? No one said this would be easy and I'm sure the coaches, management and the entire organization are saying the same thing to the young guys... they just have to gut it out.

Aside from the sublime Caufield breakaway, that was a depressing 20 minutes of hockey. For a team leaking goals, why do the Habs not learn to stay out of the penalty box? Why is there basically no puck pursuit on the penalty kill?

Why is there basically no puck pursuit on the penalty kill? If Marty is going to stay the coach (which is a good thing) the assistants have to change. PP & PK are bad. Systems are weak. Losing is one thing. Getting swamped until the other team gets bored and eases off (maybe) is another.

I agree with you, and I would love them to lose every game by 1 goal in regulation but as I have stated before half the forwards are deadweight that you cannot move, most of the defence are rookies and the vets we have on D are useless... nothing you can do about that...

I watch wifi on the point threading passes through and think "can't we use that on the PP instead of weak ass droopy or I shoot the puck Wide-man?"

Adding to "what ar3 they suppose to do?"
Remember when we had a top 10 scoring first line center? It was only 1 month ago. Well he is 68th now
Being competitive, keeps these guys engaged and producing and yields hope. Suzuki is currently a part of the problem. Losing, and losing bad, is very hard for even the best of players to keep trying, keep producing.
Suzuki has 1 point in the last 7 games. 3 in the last 12. He was a playing at over a point a game pace, and a guy with 22 goals and 9, NINE!! assists is about to pass him for the team lead in scoring.
We can't rely on one person to score. Our third leading scorer also has 66% of his points as goals (Josh Anderson). On paper it doesn't look good, on the ice it looks worse. They do not play as a cohesive unit, still, after half a season.
