Angela Price confirms they're selling their montreal home at the end of the season and moving to Kelowna... don't think he'll retire and leave 20 mill on the table

Life moves on. Hopefully Price is in a good place and everything works out for him.
Clearly there was no adequate remedy to the injury issues. I believe there have been numerous lower body injuries (hip, knee, ankle), but the ongoing issues with the knee suggest that the problem there is of degenerative nature whereby, unfortunately, there is no magic treatment or new surgical solution.
I am certain that I may be in the minority here but I come down on the yes for the Hall of Fame but no for retiring his number.

That's the way I see it too folatre. Good enough for first ballot in the HOF for me. After all, he was considered the best for many years, won all those trophies, an Olympic gold medal, World Champ and World Jr Champ and MVP, U18 Silver, 7 all-star games, Calder Cup and MVP, and more wins than any other goalie in Hab History (with that list of HoF goalies the Habs have had, that is an accomplishment).
As far as retiring his number, well this is the Montreal Canadiens. You don't get to see your number up there just for any accomplishment. This isn't the HoF and we aren't one of 31 other teams in the NHL where some receive that honor just for forgetting to retire for half a decade.

Why in the world should he be getting paid when he's clearly done ?

As a kid, Nilan was literally among my five favorite Habs, but this would be equivalent of raising Knuckles' #30 to the rafters. Ottawa is more than just a new owner, a decent downtown arena, and a random playoff appearance before they reach a ten year drought from being in the same stratosphere as the Montreal Canadiens. Their few true ticket buying fans may object, but history is history, reality is reality, revenue is revenue, and the Senators are not about to start flexing muscles they do not have.

He's for sure a HoF, first ballot. As for jersey retirement, I hope it is not retired as that will mean we have regained our elite status. But if in a few years we continue to be a struggling club, Carey will get his 31 retired as Le Club will have lowered their requirements and joined the (COUGH), Canucks/Stan Smyl and Hurricanes/Glen Wesley franchises. We're getting close to the tipping point where us old timers will have to give up on the memories of the Glory Days and recognize our standards can no longer be so high. Even Saku and #11 might get hoisted.
It's up to HuGo to ensure that we can maintain our high standards!

But don't forget he had to carry Therrien, Ducharme and Bergevin on his back. Along with all those stay at home defensemen, that's a lot of weight.

He will get in the HOF. But he doesn't deserve to be in there. He is not the best goalie of his era, he is not even the best goalie of draft class.
Don't give me the "look at the team around him" arguement. To get in the HOF, you look at actual numbers, not "what could have beens"
There are a tonne of goalies that deserve to be in before Carey Price
MA Fluery Henrik Lundqvist Curtis Joseph Ryan Miller Tom Barasso
And the one that IMO that seals the argument
Jonathan Quick
Who, ever, considers Jonathan Quick in the best goalie debate? No one. He has more wins than Price, more Cups, has a Conn Smythe, 2 Jennings trophies. Played with just as many offensively challenged teams as Price. Quick had Doughty, Price had Markov and Subban.
IMO, Quick has to get in the HOF before Price. But he won't.

I grew up in Ottawa in the 60s and 70s, and one thing I noticed about local sports fans, is that they'll only support a winner ... I used to route for the Rough Riders, but it was very hard being an Ottawa fan with the team sucking bath water for as long as it did ... I was sorry to see them go, but I had already left Ottawa by the time the team was done ... as far as the Senators go, I temporarily moved back to Ottawa in 1994, and the team wasn't very good ... there were plenty of tickets available for every home game, but people came back to the rink in the late 90s, when the team didn't look too bad ... anyway, that's what I remember, folatre ... Cheers.
