That's cool, but I thought Michael "The Volcano" Bunting was the oldest rookie

I pulled up some info on Connie Madigan and this is his Wiki page ... they do reference him as being the oldest rookie ever ... Cheers.

Does that ever bring back memories....as a young pup, listening to WHL games on my short wave radio. The WHL was a pro league at the time, probably equivalent in quality to the AHL, but less of a development league. The Canucks, Portland Buckaroos (love that name), Seattle Totems, etc. Portland's head coach was Hal Laycoe, who was hired to coach the Canucks their first year in the NHL. Joe Crozier was the WHL Canucks coach and he ended up in Buffalo.
