Keefe probably has this game circled given the fact the Habs have been a thorn in the side of the Leafs this season.
Jake Allen needs to be sharp and the boys need to stay on the right side of the puck in this one. Handing the Leafs five or six power plays would pretty much guarantee a loss.
I wonder if Dach will play. Belzile is a nice story, but if him and Pitlick are centering the bottom six there is no way to describe the situation other than desperate.
I love those old photos, Dis. For a second, I was staring at the Hab crashing down the left wing there because it just did not look like Gainey. And then common sense prevailed when I saw the year under the photo.

So Doofis just got O'Reilly from the Blues. Wonder if he suits up tomorrow? He'll be pumped no doubt. Could get ugly either way, but it's for a greater cause! Let the leafs fans feel good about this dead end team. We'll be a better team for loss.

An Anderson hat trick would be nice in a losing effort

Hey, who is Toronto playing tonight? The pregame I have seen O'Reilly, Arrcai the Flames and the Rangers....

Leafs are in trouble. Allen didn't let in the first shot

I just looked at our roster. I counted 4 guys that I am a) interested in seeing play and b) will likely form part of our contending team if they continue to develop. The rest are either trade bait, or cannon fodder. That is harsh, but use nicer language if you wish. Basically, however, I wish there were a lot more guys dressed who were developing, instead of simply taking up a spot on the bench. I didn't include RHP and Ylonen, so maybe there are 6 guys. Still a very small part of a 20 man roster.

On the one hand, Montreal seems plenty engaged physically, mentally and emotionally in this game thus far. On the other hand, Toronto is outplaying the Habs by a measurable margin. Luckily, Allen came out of the room ready to play.

What's with the Leaf goalies? Woll is starting & the backup is a guy that looks about 18.
EDIT- apparently that's Kallgren according to NHL.com
Looks really young. But where's Samsonov? Is he hurt now too.

We are indeed playing a lot in our own zone. Still, it's a tie game. Rope a dope?

Live and learn, Matheson. The way to hand the Leafs a game is to take avoidable penalties.

Good grief Allen, that is terrible.

Didnt help that Harris gets muscled off the puck by Engvall of all people but really Allen? Let's just give Toronto unearned goals.

They hold the top 4 forwards off the board & they are losing because Bunting has 2 goals & Allen is a sieve.
Cant watch this stuff.

I like being behind by 2 goals as I can then hope we score when we have the puck, and not worry about tanking so much.
Gotta believe Bunting will ge the hattie and the celebration will be over the top given he's playing against AHLers.

Lull them into a false sense of security until they get bounced in the 1st round

For sure, jkr, it was not exclusively an Allen-issue on the Engvall goal. As you point out, Harris could not handle a big body down low. Harris is showing confidence with the puck and some nice offensive skill lately, but he needs to make his reads and move his feet super fast to avoid getting exploited by NHL forwards.

Or he needs to train with Xhekaj.

Kovacevic was super soft there, trying to be friendly with Matthews instead of trying to dislodge him from the puck. The result: Matthews got the luxury of possession and time to find Nylander for the backdoor tap in.

It must be orgasmic in Toronto right now... Yup. they finally found the goalie they've been looking for - only given up 1 goal. And the two Blues pick ups seem to be flawless!

I posted with still time on the clock and nothing but radio silence. Sure we lost to the leafs - never happy. But did you see our line-up? And big picture; we are sinking and so may be Fla. By the end of next week we could be in 28th place, and Fla could be in 22nd place - giving us a 11.5% chance at Bedard, and at least real good chance of getting a nice stud. with the injuries, this line-up may be as bad as we've had. Feel for Marty who is a competitor. Hopefully he sees the big picture. In that regard I would be limiting Suze's minutes: better chance of losing and worried Suze may get hurt or suffer trauma from this experience.

Losing to Toronto is the worst for me but losing when the scorers are Bunting, Engvall & Kampf is frustrating. The big names are largely silent & the Habs still lose.
