Apparently, the Leafs acquired O'Reilly at 50 percent retained and Acciari (a fourth line plug) from St. Louis for a first and third (Sens) in 2023, a second in 2024, and a fourth in 2025. And probably to even out the number of contracts, the Blues also got a couple of meh AHLers (Abramov and Gaudette).

In terms of the player acquired, O'Reilly, I think he represents a lot of what the Leafs need for a playoff push. So I give them full marks for getting him rather than Kane. My brother-in-law will probably freak tomorrow about not getting Kane or Meier, but the reality is O'Reilly, assuming he can stay healthy, is a nice piece for their puzzle. I am sure Dubas was dreaming of Barbashev instead of Acciari, but obviously Doug Armstrong is going to sell Barbashev for a tidy price in a seperate deal.
Toronto gave up plenty of draft capital so one has to imagine there is not sufficient asset juice to make another move now.

Good move for Toronto. Their window has been slipping away one year at a time. They needed to do something to have any hope of making it past Tampa and/or Boston.

Basically St Louis traded to Minnesota and held 50% and then Minnesota traded to Toronto and withheld 50% of 50% which is 25%. So end result is st Louis has 50, Minnesota 25% and TO is 25% or 1,875M Toronto still has 4 million in cap space if Murray stays on the IR. They did good. Didn't trade a top prospect like Robertson or Knies and kept their first next year. This year's might be in the 20's. I think a good trade for them. Edmunson would fill out the D for them and they might have a shot.

Think it was Dreger who said Toronto was looking to shore up the bottom 6 or find someone that would allow them to shift an existing guy down the lineup. I wonder how Boston & TB will react. I still dont have confidence in their goaltending. Samsomov is almost 26 & is 1-6 in the playoffs. Murray is just not the guy he was in Pitt and cant stay healthy any more.

That’s a lot of assets for a guy that’s not playing up to his usual standards. So is this a sellers market?
On a side note this helps the Laval Rocket as Marlies lose 2 important players to their offence.

Robertson is small, easy to knock off pucks, not a great skater, and seemingly quite injury-prone. Sure, he could be a piece in some deal. Hockey is debatable, but I do not think many teams see a can't miss NHLer when they watch him play.
It is shaping up more as a seller's market than most people thought when the calendar turned to 2023. It could be a couple of things. The East is just so stacked, every GM sees a need to do something significant or get left behind. And the West is so wide open, GMs might be thinking hey my team is not perfect but this could be the year where any one of six or seven teams could make it to the SCF.
For the sake of hockey fans in the great state of Minnesota, I certainly hope Guerin plans to do more than being the guy standing in the corner at the Leafs-Blues party last night. Okay, no harm is grabbing a free fourth rounder. But his team cannot score goals and they are holding a wildcard by their fingernails. How about using the cap space on impactful rentals?

People have to remember that his Cup win is now 4 years old.
