Maybe management and St. Louis are quietly giving the boys their blessing to have themselves a night on the town.

Apparently Frederic Allard will be in Habs lineup tomorrow

I remember Guhle had some upper body discomfort after getting hit by Comtois. I hope he is not out for any extended time.
I see that Allard has played one NHL game in his career. So obviously this is quite an exciting moment for him.

Quick making his Golden Knights debut. One imagines the guys on Vegas will play with extra purpose to support a vet who just went through a rough week.

Excited for the kid from St. Sauveur.

Excited for the kid from St. Sauveur. Pretty exciting for sure. Only his second game in the NHL and it is for his home province team. Instead of flying to Laval all alone this morning, he gets a cup of coffee in the bigs and a nicer ride home with the rest of the boys. Sucks for Guhle though. I expect once they get back to Montreal, Shuey and Allard will swap places as the emergency call up until one of Barron or Guhle can return (or if).

It is such a depleted roster, so even if the boys were out on the town last night there would be plausible deniability. But, man, that was a tough twenty minutes.

Well, the boys got off their heels and played better hockey in the second period. But this game is obviously in the loss column. I suppose the only suspense is whether Quick gets to bask in the glory of a shutout in his first game with Vegas.

Button going nuts about the stupidity of every clean big hit leading to a fight. And the thing that is particularly stupid, in my opinion, is that you could see Martinez did not even have his heart in it. He just held onto Kovacevic who otherwise would have landed a couple of good blows.

Watching on my DVR... late in the 2nd MSL flipped a few lines around.
RHP went from the 2nd line to the 1st. (ie, from Drouin's to Suzuki's) Ylonen went from 3d to 1st (ie, from Dvorak's to Suzuki's) Hoffman took RHPs spot on the 2d line, Gurianov the 3d.
So it took Gurianov 8 periods before he lost his top line spot. Can't say his effort/compete level would've justified keeping him on the top line.

I think (in my ultimate wisdom) that it’s another symptom of today’s society where people are not willing to take responsibility for their actions. In the far distant past if you admired your pass and got hammered, your teammates would rib the hell out of you. Keep your head up, fella. Now, it’s the other guy’s fault for you being stupid.

I agree. I am totally in the dinosaur camp in the sense that I believe teams need a mean capable SOB or two dressed each night to police the ice and respond to anything dirty. But I whole idea every clean hit is an affront that must be answered with a fight is stupid.
Maybe the only exception I would make is if a dude on one team blows up a top player on the other team with a legal hit. For example, Connor Murphy destroyed Suzuki about a month ago. And Anderson said f you, you can't do that to our captain and first line centre, so Murphy had to face the music like a man, which he did, and got the worst of the fight against Anderson.
But the thing tonight was comical. If I am not mistaken, Martinez had to pretend he cared about a scrub Vegas fourth liner absorbing a big clean hit from Kovacevic. That is stupid.

While I was disappointed to see Guri's demotion, it was predictably given his pumped play lasted only a few periods; and even then he was never pumped to play defence. Happy for the kids on Suze wings. They earned the opportunity and full credit to Marty for making it happen. HP will been the team next year as he brings it every shift and has some skill. Ylo has some talent and is still learning. Why not let him learn from one of the smartest centres in the league. This would have never happened with MT or Clod. Not sure why Josh is saddled with Drouin and Hoffman. But if you look at the line up Marty really has no one at centre after Suze so if the wingers don't take advantage of their time with Suze, it's next up.

Didn't hear Allard's name mentioned much which is a good thing. It truly is amazing what Marty is able to do with this AHL line up! they are one competitive group. This is gong to be fun as this group gets healthy and develops. The future is bright.

There sure is no quit in these guys. Given all the injuries, the AHL call ups, and the unwanted vets left on the roster, you have to tip the hat to MSL and his cohorts for finding a way to get these guys believing in themselves when the odds are so stacked up against them every night. I don’t mind losing games where young guys perform well and the team shows that they are developing a competitive culture. A perfect tank/development balance right now.

I still don't agree with Marty in the last minute, goalie pulled, having Drouin and Hoffman out there. (Useless). Play the young guys in key situations. HP's line was buzzing all night. Play him Suze and Ylonen with Anderson being the extra forward, Harris and Matheson on the point. Say what you want about Anderson, I would have him on the ice any day over Drouin and Hoffman.

I was only able to see the Sportsnet highlight package. In the last minute it looked like someone off the left wing rang one off the crossbar. Not sure who that was. Not good for the tank but last minute goals for are always fun.
Iffy debut for Quick. Three goals allowed in the 3rd and a close call in the final minute.

Faher time catches up to everyone, except maybe Jaromir Jagr and Gordie Howe.

I wonder if guys like Armia or Gallagher (if he allows it despite him NMC) might end up being the call-downs/call-ups at some point since their contracts make them undesirable, and if someone took them outright we'd be thrilled.

It's not a bad move as I think Gally has too. much pride and would just retire. then again he may love the game so much that he doesn't care where he plays. Either way works for me if he hasn't improved his play by September. Armia, if sent down, would hopefully be looking at Europe.
