.... Florida's pick is definitely not going to be in the lottery, though I continue to believe the Panthers will miss the playoffs.... Well, not to nitpick, but the Florida pick will be in the lottery, but with no possibility of going 1st overall, and likely the pick goes to about #5 overall if that pick wins. If we can't win the lottery outright and get picks 1 or 2, ending up with picks 5 and 6 wouldn't be bad, either. We'd just have to hope the scouts did their jobs well and we pick the best available players. This draft has been compared to 2015, and getting a couple of guys of the Werenski/Meier/Rantanen caliber could really turn us into a contender. Yes, I'm dreaming, and please don't wake me up.

I don’t know if anyone mentioned it, but there was a point in the game where Nick Suzuki got a tripping penalty. TSN announcers were going on and on about Montreal can’t give Florida power play while the guy in charge of replays showed the tripping call three times, TWICE in super slow motion, and you could clearly see that the stick that tripped the Panther was actually another Panthers.
Not once was this mentioned in the telecast while I was watching. The only comment was “Suzuki looks mad”.
Not sure if it was ever mentioned, but I turned the fans off about 5 mins later.
I’m not sure why the refs, are calling this in an 9-4 game. When the losing team had yet to get a PP. And that’s another thing I’ve noticed lately is how few power plays Montreal is getting lately

Doesnt say much about the replay guy either. He's very incompetent or very biased.

You are right, good call. I looked on the Tankathon site and at present Florida's pick has a 0.8 percent chance of being 5th overall and 0.3 percent 6th. Well, to dream is free. Montreal certainly needs to add high-end talent and in a hard cap environment the draft is the ideal way to do it.

I ran tankathon about 20 times. The Habs hit 2nd once . The other tries were 5,6 or 7.

If you're not a good team, the officials assume that you have to cheat in order to win. While my wording might not be accurate, the sentiment is. Bad teams get penalized more than good teams, regardless of how well they are playing in any given game. Good players often get away with a lot, especially in basketball where rookies routinely get fouls called against them for doing nothing vs a superstar.

My ideal is for the Habs to end up in the top 3 and Florida to get us to the 5-6 area. The key is that Florda has to miss the playoffs. It's not a given that they will. Buffalo is choking, losing 5-1 to Philly, which helps us, but hurts our Florida hopes.

This can happen in 2 ways - either Florida's pick wins the first draw, goes to 5, and Montreal's pick wins the second draw, and we get pick #2. Or our pick gets us Bedard, and Florida's goes to 5 in the second draw. Either result would be awesome, and both results are horribly unlikely.

It's the fact Florida's pick just about never wins that I find discouraging. I was really hoping they would finish low enough to give us an added chance (even a very slim one) at a top-3 pick
