Thanks Dis. I watched the 71 comeback vs Boston again. It ranks up there as one of my top 3 Habs games ever, maybe #1. In BC, they showed the Leafs game which had ended and back then (no different than today where no one other than TO means anything) we had few score updates from the Habs-Boston game. We did see the numbers changing as the Habs came back but the Leafs game ended when it was 5-5 in Boston. It was a terrifying hour or so until I managed to get the final score off some radio station (the good old days of having to wait to get any information on anything). And then it was relief and jubilation. Series was tied.
Nice seeing some clips of a healthy Orr as well. What was that, 1 goal and 2 assists? along with a couple of give-aways? That Richard goal was the real key, coming late in the 2nd and those goals always energize a team. Good ole Fergie, with the winning goal. He always claimed he had a great shot from 2 1/2 feet out. Beliveau did it all in that 3rd, though, huh? Strength up the middle. Suzuki and Dach. Hutson and Guhle. Then a goalie, and away we go.

Dis, great GDT. Forgot about that commercial. But will never forget about that Habs win - my favourite of all-time. And I think Orr was on for something like 5 of the goals agains the Bruins.
Anyway Dis, those of us posters have had various discussions and we are all very impressed with your body of work and want to reward you for all your efforts. It was a unanimous decision that you may take the next 6 months off. But come October we expect you back at work maintaining the high standards we have come to expect. If you wish to warm up with GDT for the exhibition games, that would be welcomed as well. Enjoy your time off!
Funny story: the one goal I will always remember was Frank's to make it 7-5. Perhaps it was the relief of getting the insurance goal in that huge come from behind win against the Big Bad Bruins. About 25 years later, I take the kids to see a Habs old-timers game in Victoria and Frank is playing. I had brought a hockey picture book which had and its centre fold was the cheque the Hawks had written to the Leafs to purchase the Big M for $1 million in 1962. So I waited outside the arena with the kids until Frank came out to get him to sign it. He did sign it and I still have the book. But the crazy thing about the encounter is that I told Frank about my memory of the beauty of his insurance goal and he says to me "I scored two goals that game!" which I thought was odd as that wasn't my memory. Anyway, Frank did not score 2 goals and in fact, in the hi-lites Dis posts the announcers, in commentating on Frank's insurance goal, talk about how he has done nothing all game. Frank was award dude.

I'd love to root for the Habs to beat the Bruins but can't assume Phx will beat the Canucks later in the evening, and I want 5th place. So will have to tolerate the Bruins love-in for their "record breaking season" and how it is only fitting that they beat the Habs to close it out. Galley will be positively orgasmic. Let me know when a team loses only 8 games in a season!

Fitting end to a depressing season.
I remember a lot of optimism around the Canadiens starting around the time we drafted Price. The playoff matchup with the Bruins in 2008 felt like it was the start of something, but it’s really been the Bruins who have been on an upswing ever since.
I’m optimistic as far as the people in charge and some of the prospects but this season sucked. Watching the Bruins gear up for a likely 4th Stanley Cup appearance in 12 years REALLY sucks

I remember this game because it was surreal ... just an unbelievable comeback ... Thanks for the kind words, HS, it's very appreciated ... if the GDTs generate discussion, then that's the reward, and it pays off for everyone ... we have an experienced membership, who can relate to a lot of the older, vintage material, and that creates a lot of options ... as far as taking time off goes, we're looking at Vegas, but in the fall ... and, I'll be doing what my team will be doing this summer; golfing ... keep enjoying yourself, HS ... for the first time in a long time, there is real hope for the future of our team ... Cheers.

Surprised to see the Bruins regulars in the lineup.
Checked Leafs - Rangers game & almost all the regulars are in the lineup.

Playing all their regulars risks some injuries, especially in a meaningless game. The Rocket will want to impress management.

If Allen is healthy enough to be the backup tonight, why is Montembeault starting this one after starting last night at New York?
Should Allen not want to end a subpar season for him personally with a good performance in front of the home fans?

Wideman may well care a lot, I do not doubt it. But for a dude is really marginal at the NHL level, he plays stupid and takes a lot of dumb penalties.

Armia and Drouin on the point for the powerplay. Why doesn't Burrows just admit he's out of ideas

Another expert in taking lazy penalties. I hope Pitlick has a healthy and productive season for the Rocket in 2023-24, but I really do not want to see him with the Habs again.

What in hell was Pitlick doing passing when he had an empty net.
Not that it mattered, but it shows me his lack of game awareness

I’m not watching but trailing 3-2 to a minor league team with your full roster is not a good look for the ‘mighty’ Bruins.
Omen?
I want Boston to win so we can nail down an interim 5th last place position.

I want Boston to win so we can nail down an interim 5th last place position. Orlov just tied it on a very sharp angled shot. There is no omen here as much as some would like to see them. Just a team that has little to play for doing just enough.

Eat it, punk Greer. Edmundson, when he wants to, is serious fighter. Greer was trying to dig a hole in the ice at the end to avoid additional abuse (puke was hugging Edmundson's leg, what the frick).

Why is Montembeault playing tonight? If it was St. Louis' call, bad decision. If it was Allen's direct/indirect call, kind of troubling, because what does that say about where his game/confidence has been the last two months?
