Canada lost a great one this week. His songwriting and voice were really unsurpassed.
As a little kid new to the country in 1980-81 when my father was transferred to Toronto, I remember hearing Lightfoot on the radio and I pretty much knew from day one that my parents loved his music. I suppose as a I grew up, I was more attracted to more squarely rock and roll sounds. But over the last 20 years I have definitely gravitated toward his music.

Very nice tribute folatre.
I'm sure I am quite a bit older than you but in the eighties by musical tastes were mostly rock. But one of my favorite cassettes Was a double album of Lightfoot songs called Gord's Gold that I played over and over in the car.
His music still resonates with all ages. Last summer I was in the driveway washing the car. I could hear music being played kind of loudly around the corner. A kid who couldn't have been more than 18-19 rolled by playing The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Awesome.
