Much like all of us HabsRusians appreciate everything Dis does for the board, we appreciate you filling in for him doing GDTs because we are lost without the GDTs... lol.

I hate it when a team ices a bunch of slugs. If only I was the Commish. Besides the good I would do for the game and its fans, I can use the $8MM annual salary. No CAP there.

Unsportsmanlike penalty to Xhekaj? Did he neglect to hold a door open for someone?

Are we just going through the motions or is Monty shatting the bed?

The one thing that can keep us from being a decent team is goaltending. It was much better than expected in a terrific draft year (thanks Sam) and it will probably be brutal this year when the draft is not quite as strong at the top.
Would be nice to be lucky sometime.

Ate we just going through the motions or is Monty shatting the bed? Preseason but Sam gave up the 4th goal on the 20th shot. Our defensive pairings have been porous at best. Arber a grim -3 on the night.

I also think MSL and Hughes have a tough decision to make on Xhekaj. He hasn’t had a good camp and I bet a couple of guys are ahead of him on merit. Can you get by without that toughness?

Xman is sticking with Le Club. He brings a key component to the game no one else does: deterence. This game reminded me of the 70s dynasty when Les Boys were behind, even by two goals, but you knew they were going to comeback and win. Sure it's exhibition and Sens dressed an AHL team but Suze and the crew said enuf of this crap! And if Lupien could contribute to those 70's teams, Xman can certainly play a role with this team. Don't remember Lupey ever putting the puck though the net. Just give the Xman a decent partner and he'll look after the rest

Arber a grim -3 on the night. Concerning because while plus/minus is a flawed stat, Arber's been at the bottom of our stats list for too many games. It's not always his partner's fault.

Hell if Komisarek could survive with Markov as a partner, Xhekaj will do much better with a similar guy.

I think Xhekaj will play with Kovacevic, who is not a world beater but at least he tries to prioritize playing a steady game.

I wasn't a fan of Kovacevic, but from preseason at least, he looks improved.

I got a few glimpses of the game last night. One of the things I noticed was bad coverage from the forwards.
Problem X is going to face is that he's not the most agile or the greatest vision so he's going to be caught not covering the odd man in. Happened at least once and it's going to keep happening until we have a strong defensive structure. Of course the blame will go on X because he was the nearest guy to the scorer.
There is no right decision if you have a forward in the slot and a forward of the side of the net. You try to block the slot, you open the lane, you try to cut the lane, you open the slot. That's exactly what happened to X last night. What "should" happen is the forward interferes or kills the guy in the slot so X can cut the lane and kill the guy at the side of the net. Sorry, did I accidentally use the word kill?
Playing loosey goosey is fine but at some point, we need defensive structure in our soup.
