I wasn't a fan of Kovacevic, but from preseason at least, he looks improved. He definitely earned his spot with a good preseason. His puck movement and confidence seemed quite better (for now).

Back in the spring when it was announced that St. Louis was sticking with his existing coaching staff, I felt the decision was something of an opportunity lost because the Habs do not play with good defensive structure. And thus adding a strong systems guy (e.g. Jacques Martin) to the staff could certainly have helped.
DJ Smith is a likely candidate to get fired within the next 2-3 months because, talent notwithstanding, in all these seasons the rebuilding Sens have never managed to get their forwards to commit defensively.

We reached the finals even though NOBODY expected us to do so. NOBODY.
Team defense and hard work. You couldn't scratch your butt before some random Hab put you on your butt.
It will be a huge mistake not to start stapling team defense on their foreheads.

I still thin judgment on how good a coach he is will rely upon that defensive structure. Cranky is absolutely right on that. And my apologies to Arber who may have been caught between rocks and hard places in his minus stats. (I apologized on my own. No coercion took place. Does that sound ok, Mr. Xhekaj?).

It will be a huge mistake not to start stapling team defense on their foreheads. It was a great ride, but we were an 86 point team. Tavares gets wiped out immediately. Schieffele makes the second dumbest error possible. Fleury makes the dumbest error possible and Price blows his knees out on pain killers. That run was 80% Price, 10% amazing effort and 10% blind luck. But it does prove that if your goalie gets hot, and you have great team chemistry, you can go a long way until the lack of talent catches up. There was a chasm of talent between us and Tampa, but in a few years that will be reversed. Can’t wait.

I'd be more worried about his mom... she works with some heavy tools...
