I'm going with 80-89 points because we are coming out of the basement.
I don't like our goaltending but I think we are in for a treat with Dach becoming a star and CC potting 40 plus. Unless there is a container of wheelchairs heading our way, we are in the top of the basement dweller pile but not playoff material...yet.

I’m thinking a bit less because I have no confidence in 1) our defensive discipline; and 2) our goaltending. Most of our players will be better personally, but I don’t think management is ready to improve the defensive structure part. Not until they’ve drafted one more top guy, hopefully (with help from the lottery balls, or NHL HO) Celebrini, Eiserman or Demidov. So 70-79 points for me, probably on the lower end.

Goaltending will lose us many games.

I've gotten the last 4 of these points predictions correct .... sooooo .... let's go with 100 points 😆🤣. Nah, I'm already on record as saying 73 points is the maximum I see them getting. So 70-79 it is.
***************************
I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the 60s.
The only way I see them getting in the 80s is if Monty gets hot (possible) and Jake Allen gets injured (also possible) 🤭

I'm thinking if we are healthy we'll be in the mid 80's........I'm hoping for the high 60's.

Low to mid 80s sounds about right. We should be able to play .500 hockey.

I feel like I am the only who thinks we can easily crack 90 points with a healthy lineup and reliable goaltending. We don't have a bad team, we had a cup run just a few years ago with a young core at heart. Believe lads, believe.

As I alluded to, we could have every player improve by leaps and bounds and still finish with fewer points than last year if our goaltending sucks. It’s a very real possibility.

So that part about the doctor visits is the critical part of the season once again it seems. Does anyone remember when this was not just part of everday life as Montreal fans ? It seemd like forever ago that injury mountain was more speed bump like.
we clear 80 with or without it, somehow we miraculously have better than expected goaltending maybe just maybe we are a 500 team thanks to the freebie points

I voted 70-79. I always like to look at the Vegas line and the over/under for the season was around 71.5 and if you look at a lot of the analytical "experts", they had the Habs anywhere from 68-75 points and usually 8th in the Division and around 28th overall. I don't see it that bad but not ready to jump above 80 just yet. The rebuild is a process and I look at the roster as a whole. Look at the addition by subtraction from last season... Joel Edmundson was a team worst -29 and the team record was 20-35-6 in the games he played or 11-10 without him Guhle was second worst on the team at -19 but he's developing. Next was Drouin -18 (team record 21-33-4 in his games; 10-12-2 without) And Pitlick -15 (team record 13-28-5 in his games; 18-17-1 without)
At the other end of the spectrum is Matheson who led with a +7 and i think it's obvious, he is the teams best Defenseman. Only played 48 games, team was 18-26-4, 13-19-2 without).
All this is to say, i think the team is slowly building something. Still an extremely young D. Can Dach, Slaf take big steps forward? Same with Suzuki and Cole. And can Newhook be another find? Still need the goaltending addressed and the special teams are anything but...but it appears there is a plan.

28th before the lottery would be ideal, if we stay at 28 we get Catton which i would be happy with... if we move up it would be fantastic...

70-79....probably 76 points. Just can't see too many teams we are better than in the East.

Was thinking that myself. Knock off another 7-8 points, which brings me into the 60-69 range. If Allen keeps sucking and plays 25 games, I want to go into the 50-59 range.

I actually think Montembeault is making himself into a solid enough tandem type guy. But overall goalie play is not going to be a strength, unfortunately. And plenty of the trouble is dumped on them by a roster with a lot of young guys, a lot of guys who are two-way stalwarts, a group that takes a crazy number of penalties and then struggles to kill them off.
I certainly see some guys taking a step forward and management should have a much better idea where guys fit in moving forward. However, I do not see the team getting to the modest 80 point threshold. I will say 77 points and a pick next summer in the 7-10 range.

Oh yo'all of little faith! Why can't you be like me and offer the Gods some chicken pot pie sacrifices!
Dach loss can be a 10 point shot in the head. Unless Newhook is the new Jesus and steps into stardom, i don't see our front end doing much damage.
The poll is open so you can revise your nightmare predictions. I'm sticking to mine.
