Is this the 1st test this year against a contender? Hope the goalie stands on his head.

Josh Anderson is like a bull in a china shop.
If he knew how to finish or pass, he might even be a hockey player

Suzuki has got to get his head out of his A$$. He just completed a shift of 2:44 as he and Caufield were on for 46 seconds before getting a PP and then MSL insists on keeping the first line out as long as possible to do nothing. Fine. It is what it is. But then he coasts on the backcheck on a shorthanded break and you would think he would make his way off the ice on the rush back up but no, not our boy Nic. Good to see the 2nd unit get first crack on this PP

Sigh...another 6 on 5 goal against...amazing the non-urgency that plagues this team at times

And yet they find a way to dominate the 3rd period shot wise and tie the game. Off to OT! What a laugh. Vegas.

Vegas is overrated. I still can’t believe they won last year using backup goalies. No improvement in that area this year. Gotta catch up to you sometime. We take them to OT missing a top centre, with our A dman playing injured ( dumb, dumb, dumb), and a slew of first year dmen. The league should be very worried about the Habs. Maybe that’s why we keep getting these questionable penalties called.

Just wondering if anyone is keeping any stats for games missed by David Savard?

Good game last night....we deserved the win!! Can we all agree that Marty has to do something with Anderson....he's terrible!! Move him to the 4th line or send him down, there is no chance of moving him anywhere.

In reality, he's Paul Byron in a much bigger body who can intimidate and protect his teammates. Who wouldn't want that in their lineup? The real issue is that he's very misused. He'd be best on a counter-attack line that would excel off the rush. We don't really have the ideal linemates for him right now, but imo he would have paired well with Byron and Eller for example. I'd take that as a checking line.

Unlike other top tier teams who rely on their studs to win (Edm, TO) Vegas comptetes every night and win even when their best players don't show up. As for last night, I'm going with Vegas having an off game (see Monahan goal and Eichel failing on two penalty shots) as a result of Vegas being over-confident and not up for the game agains the lowly Habs, before i'm leaning towards Vegas beong overrated. They are now 9-0-1.

But like Petry he's not very good at making decisions. He should not be the point person on the PP. He just doesn't have the smarts or the skill. I think he killed the PP on at least 5 occassions against Vegas.

From the NHL: With Mike Matheson’s assist last night (56GP), he became the second-fastest defenseman in franchise history to record 40 points with the Canadiens (NHL debut or otherwise) behind Sprague Cleghorn (46 GP) over 100 years ago. — Kenzie Lalonde (@kenzietsn) October 29, 2023

They are now 9-0-1. Eichel, Peiterangelo, Mark Stone are superstars in my books. They may not be generational like McDavid, Crosby, Ovie, Mackinnon, Draisitl, Makar or Matthews, they are right there afterwards. I try not to make my posts so long that no one wants to bother reading them (perfect set up for all the jokes, guys), but that also means I may not be clear in what I mean. Vegas is a good team, without question. They are extremely well coached and they have 4 guys who are top players. Eichel and Pietrangelo are elite. If you're looking for a superstar label Eichel could well be called that. Stone is another excellent, almost elite player and the 4th guy is Shea Theodore, who has upped his game into an elite or near elite dman. Their top 6 is very good, but it falls off after that. The bottom 6 are mostly grinder types who work their butts off, as Cassidy requires. Mostly interchangeable, IMO, but one or two are younger and improving. The real weakness is in goal. If not for some old school mistakes by Woodcroft (you always dance with the goalie that brung ya, instead of the guy playing well at the moment), the Knights don't get past Edmonton. Anyway, I would not bet on Vegas winning it all again this year. Those marginal goalies are eventually going to play marginally and that can kill a team. I'm still surprised at the result last night. Matheson is playing injured, (I don't count Savard as a loss) and we were missing a huge piece up front in Dach. If Barron keeps playing like he is right now (who the hell abducted the old Justin Barron and replaced him?), that pairing of Guhle and Barron could easily be a first pair in the future. Gotta keep our fingers crossed, because that fact alone could be an enormous benefit. I also have no doubt Vegas underestimated us. Lousy team last year, missing a (supposed) fixture on defense and a top centre, with uncertain goaltending. Put the points in the bank, fellas. Well, the boys made them work for them. I would have loved a win and it was close, but it's all experience the kids can put in the bank. What's fun with our team is watching certain players begin to grow and to become what they will be in 2 more years. Caufield scares other teams. Nick has 8 points in 9 games after some rough games, we already suspect how good Dach can be, we're watching Guhle get better and better, and we have kids in Laval and in other leagues, who are dominating in those leagues and others who are playing well and improving. The pipeline is bulging and we're getting to follow it all as it happens before us. Good times finally after the dark ages.

I have to admit, this is the 1st time in a while I'm not too worried about the team getting their asses handed to them on a western road trip... this team fights back... it's nice to see the never give up attitude
