So Marty shakes up the lines tonight. The last two games the team was totally dominated. But remember how a lot got excited with Slaf getting a point finally with Suzuki? (Which was funny because the goal was assisted by Newhook on the PP) Slaf on the top line and another goal. Shocking! Another goal? 🤔 Slaf scored on the PP unit, on a play that didn't involve Suzuki or Cole And that was Suzuki scoring late in the game on a play that was all Caufield Slaf didn't look out of place on Suzuki's line, but that line clicks no matter who is on it Newhook is on Suzuki's line tonight , et voila, he gets a point too. It amazing how that happens when players are where they are suppose to be Lines tonight are Newhook - Suzuki - Anderson Slafkovsky-Dvorak - Caufield ** my point here is Suzuki clicks with everyone, even with Anderson on the line. Yes, it's true, even last year **

Lightning down 5-2 to the Hawks. We wore the hell out of them.

That's a third Habs goal called back this season due to an offside video review.

Primeau has been really good tonight, hopefully the boys play a smart third period to support him.
It stinks getting the goal called back, but it was offside so it is what it is.
The penalty kill is stepping up big thus far. I hope they do not have be tested again in the third.

Primeau pulls a Carey ... drops to his knees before the shot and Compher picks the empty space over his shoulder.
Some might call it a great shot, I call it poor positioning.
The team defense didn't help him out none. They had three chances to clear. Each time they did that little shuffle towards the boards (which I really don't get, whatever happened to slinging it out), the last time Suzuki shuffled it perfectly onto Compher's stick

Josh Anderson misses an empty net off a rebound ... Anderson likely wouldn't hit water if he shot off a wharf at this point

Unless i missed it and Slaf was hurt, MSL replaced him with Evans the last 2 shifts of the 3rd. Slaf no TOI final 5 minutes of the 3rd and we know he isnt get on in OT

Primeau was great tonight. Good for the kid, because I am sure he feels a considerable amount of uncertainty about where he will be playing as the weeks move on.
Caufield is a 'specialist.' What else can one say? In the pre-Bettman world with no 3v3 and 4v3, a kid with his skill set and size obviously could not command the dollars Caufield gets (and earns) in today's NHL.

Cole Caufield scored his 7th career OT goal. This ties him for 5th on the Habs all-time Overtime goals list with Pit Lepine and Saku Koivu
He is the fastest player in NHL history to reach 7 career OT goal (136 games). The previous record was held by Frank Finnegan (222 games)

All these OT records are skewed as far as the old timers go. If 3 on 3 OT had been around while they played, they mmight have put up 100 OT goals in a career. If one wants to use the data since 3 on 3 OT came into the league, then that's ok. Just compare those guys, not the guys who never had the same opportunity. One can only imagine what the Rocket would have done in that kind of OT, or Lafleur.

But i would e interested to see who in the modern 3v3 era is in his rarified air.

With the last few OT goals I'd guess he has either tied or surpassed them. Pretty good company.

But i would e interested to see who in the modern 3v3 era is in his rarified air. I don't think I'll find a compiled list of "Fastest to 7". But I can try to compile my own. It just will take awhile. I can go through the players with the most OT goals and figure out when they scored their seventh Number of games to 7th OT goal in brackets 1. Alex Ovechkin - 25 OT goals - (290). (202 games to get seventh 3 on 3) 2. Sidney Crosby - 20 OT goals - (588). (244 games to get seventh 3 on 3) 3. Jaromir Jagr - 19 OT goals - (631). (Did not score a 3 on 3 goal - 183 GP post 2014-15) 4. Ilya Kovalchuk - 17 OT goals - (405) (3 OT goals in 110 games when 3 on 3 existed, last OT goal assisted by Nick Suzuki) 4. Brad Marchand - 17 OT goals - (513) (208 games to get seventh 3 on 3) 4. John Tavares - 17 OT goals - (391) (367 games to get seventh 3 on 3) 7. Max Pacioretty - 16 OT goals - (519) (366 games to get seventh 3 on 3) 7. Jonathan Toews - 16 OT goals - (604) (219 games to get seventh 3 on 3) ... had 5 in 54 games 7. Patrik Elias - 16 OT goals - (494) (Did not score a 3 on 3 goal - 16 GP post 2014-15) 7. Jeff Carter - 16 OT goals - (779). (129 games to get seventh 3 on 3)13. Connor McDavid - 15 OT goals. (276) 19. Steven Stamkos - 13 OT goals (321) (5 OT goals in 523 games when 3 on 3 existed) 33. Leon Draisaitl- 11 OT goal (338). (301 games to get seventh 3 on 3) 113. Alex Galchenyuk - 7 OT goals - (469). (276 games to get seventh 3 on 3. All 7 of his goals were 3 on 3) **Edit. 3 on 3 OT started in the 2015-16 season, so I'll attempt to see if I can calculate that as well **Edit. Got me wondering now on what if only the OT games were counted. But then I'd need to cross reference if that player even played that game.
