Giving a legit prospect a cup of coffee in the bigs isn't the worst thing ever, though.

Giving a legit prospect a cup of coffee in the bigs isn't the worst thing ever, though. I didn't mean it that way, I meant that X and Harris are hurt... I want to see Struble and see how physical he can be, we were quite weak in the Boston game

I have not watched a single minute of a Ducks game this season, so I do not know much. It seems like being 18 points in 18 games is slightly better than expected. Montreal is reeling right now, so this game does not look like a gimme.

Montreal is reeling right now, so this game does not look like a gimme. I don't think any game this year will be classed as a gimme unless you're a fan of the opposition. And I'm very pleased to see Struble called up. If he can just keep his game simple for a while as he started out in Laval, he'll be a large improvement over Lindstrom. Or Kovacevic

I didn't think much of the Struble pick so of he turns out to be a top 6, color me pleasantly stunned.
I noticed ma'boy Mailman picked up the offensive pace. Had he cleansed his OHL defense earlier, we would of seen him now.

I don't think I've ever said that about a NCAA player but let's see.

On a worrisome losing streak, nice to see the boys get out of the gate fast tonight.

i though Struble was great. If he palys like that and doesn't get any better he is already better than Harris, Kovacevic, and maybe Barron. Smart with poise,m can skate and is not soft. Really happy with what I saw.

Hope Oilers were watching as Monty played great, with or without his stick. Speaking of which, after something like two minutes with his stick in the corner, finally Nick is smart enough to go get it for him. These guys are dolts. We saw this happen a few games back and i was pissed then. To see it happen again is just dumb. Did the coaches not lecture them on the basics of hockey last week?
Speaking of the coaching. This Dvo Cole Slafs line is stupid. Why would you have two offensively gifted wingers centred by a guy who has no hands at all. Marty has tried it for a few games now, and it is obvious it doesn't work. Cole must be choked. And Slafs is losing confidence. I would love to see Monahan with those guys. Put Dvo with Gally and Pearson.

Dvorak is a strange guy. He's made some good plays this year (Kovacevic goal), but he's not what I typically consider as a play driver. He is never the creative guy on a line. In Juniour, he centred Marner and Matt Tkachuk. In Arizona, there was one year where Conor Garland was his winger. Garland is very much the creative guy. Dvorak is a tough guy to find linemates for. One thing you cannot expect him to do is be the creative force on his line. He's more of a complementary player, so having him higher than the 3rd line does not make sense to me. Yet, Marty sees him as exactly that. There's not a huge difference in ice time, but most line-ups sent to us by pundits covering the team have Dvorak on what we'd call the 2nd line. Since going on that line, Slaf's play hasn't been as impressive, despite the one assist. It's not a good match.
I asked Arpon Basu that question on a weekly platform he hosts and he didn't really answer it. He agreed that the fan's suggestion of Caufield -Monahan - Slafkovsky sounded like a good mix, and that Marty is experimenting right now and we still might see that line. To me, it seems like MSL has avoided putting that line together. He likes having the geezers on the same line. I don't. They can be a stabilizing influence for the kids if they're on a line with kids. I guess he feels they don't have to think as much and can just react if they're together. Sheesh, who knows what Marty's thinking?

Had he cleansed his OHL defense earlier, we would of seen him now. At the game. Different views than TV. All the players are good. Shots fly at incredible speeds. No bad players but no great ones. Anderson is bigger faster stronger than Suzuki but not as smart as a bag of pucks and wasted great setups. Puck control is lacking on offensive zone entries. Ducks working as a team vs Habs better individually. We are trying out lines vs building teamwork and coordination. Russian army team was regularly outshot but they controlled the play and set up each other in groups of five that knew how organize. The he future looks better repeating for the 30 th year. Caufield has incredible skills and shot but is a 160 pound defensive liability. He had chemistry with Suzuki but the two don’t create two powerful lines instead of one winning line. Better luck next year. Happy Thanksgiving.

Nice report, thanks LA. Even though the Ducks carried a lot of the play, I am glad you got to see a W.
St. Louis is still trying to see who can fit with who in the hope that, without Dach, Montreal can still create multiple scoring lines. That sounds good in theory. However, I thought ever since the experiment began that Caufield with Dvorak was suboptimal in almost every sense.
I know management and the coaches want to keep positivity and confidence among the group, and winning hockey games is the primary way that happens in any organization. But the standings already suggest the Habs are not making a playoff push this season and thus I would like to see the emphasis shift a little in the direction of placing guys in the seats that you need them to occupy in the not so distant future.
