Is this a game that suggests the opposition would be less aggressive with Arber in the line-up? Yes. We’re getting pushed around out there and could definitely use the sheriff. Also, we need someone like Anderson to step up and star wallpapering guys. If he’s not going to contribute offensively he’s got to do something out there. The guy is invisible. he should be nicknamed Titbull, because it sounds like Pitbull, so he'll like it, but it's more about usefulness.

And Guhle injured in the last two minutes for the cherry on top of a bad weekend where we already lost 2 players to injury. Looked like ribs.

If there was ever a market for Allen, it disappeared today I sure hope the plan is to send him to Laval after the deadline passes. I don't believe he would be claimed at the salary with a year remaining. Maybe he will show enough there to move in summer. This 3 goalie experiment has gone on long enough

Yup. Tough love time. Can't wait till the TDL is over. Then we'll start to see if Marty was just following orders to highlight some players, or if he really thinks he can win with non performing vets at key spots. Josh Anderson at -4. He's been a huge defensive and offensive liability the entire year. If someone should be sent to Laval, it ought to be him. I bet he goes unclaimed.

I was totally planning to see some touchdowns on Superbowl Sunday, just not one against against the Habs

I do not blame Hughes for the deal he gave Allen because it was signed on the eve of the 2022-23 season. Allen was coming off two decent seasons with the Habs and Montembeault had not yet emerged.
I hate to compliment Bergein twice in the same day, but in reality the proper price point for Allen was the $2.875 AAV on his first Montreal contract. He is now overpriced for a vet backup to steady the turbulence in net for certain playoff teams down the stretch.
I am starting to believe that a deal for Savard will come together, which uses the final retention slot. And Allen, while no one disputing that he is a stand-up guy and a capable #2 at his age, will have to deal with hitting the waiver wire and reporting to the Rocket whether it is in March or October.

Any hope of a decent return for Allen is now over, altho it was not liley to happen a few months ago either. Which also means the 3 goalie rotation was a complte bust. Both Monty and Primeau lost valuable experience while Hugo tried to showcase Allen. and worse yet, everyone talks about huGo being patient with thier trades. Patience was no virtue here as Allen's stock has dropped contiuously ove the past few months. Waivers is the best option. as that way we don't get any cap hit if he's taken. No way we're getting rid of Allen without retaining. And if no one takes him then Allen can contemplate life in Laval if he doesn't want to retire.

If i were him, i would be ashamed to take anything more than an entry level pay for what he brings. He should give the rest to a charity so he can sleep at night. Remember when he went forever without a goal. he was playing much better back then than he is now. HuGo has to figure a way to rid this team of Gally, Josh, and Armia - MB's curse that keeps on haunting us. If any of these players were put on waivers, there would be no takers which tells you all you need to know about how dumb MB was.

The good: despite not scoring the Habs PP1 unit looked really good when they were able to setup in the offensive zone. Suzuki right on the goal line on CC's side of the ice seems to be working well. Also, the top line scored.
The bad: Injuries to Guhle and Harris. Penalty kill. Jake Allen. Any forward with a 7 on their jersey (they combined for -11 by the way). #47 on D also had a rough game, but I'll give him a pass.

You can't keep going with 3 goalies after the TDL. Most of the time you win, occasionally you're going to lose. Rip the bandage off, Kent.

He was a good team player and role model but he prevents Primeau from developing. Further, Allen simply hasn't played well and in my opinion hasn't merited the job. Sadly his remaining value is in addition by subtraction. Fortunately, his contract is done next year whereas we're stuck with Gally for a while. That situation is a much bigger problem. Oooof!
