He didn’t protect the puck while going around the net. The Ranger stripped it and put it in front where Monty had to make a really good save. That’s not fine The ref was in the way and X had to slow down Did the ref also put his stick on the wrong side of the puck? The puck was exposed so the Ranger could get at it. Plus isn’t Xhekaj suppose to be strong on the puck? Ref in his way or not, he needed to either overpower that Ranger, out skate him, or push that puck to a safer area.

A Montreal game and the first intermission story is … you guessed it Toronto and the Rielly appeal.

Is that Saku Koivu? No, Jake Evans. Trouba needs to get punched hard by Xhekaj. AX will need to queue up for that. And it will be a long wait.

If Gallagher was going to cheap shot a NY defenseman, it should have been Trouba.

Montembault stops Kreider on the breakaway but then allows a long short side shot.

If Gallagher was going to cheap shot a NY defenseman, it should have been Trouba. Players around the league would have chipped in for the fine

Habs imploding with weak defense in front of the net. This defense is suppose to be strong. But they are letting NYR get position on them left, right and center

This period is a total shetshow. It would be hard to play more time in your own end, lose key faceoffs, and take stupid penalties (including the challenge) than the Habs did in the second.
The Rangers are really good at gaining the zone, keeping the defense guessing, and often doing the obvious and sensible thing of just getting pucks on net for tips. It is not necessarily fancy but that is how Laviolette has won a lot of games in the league.

Lindgren is gritty and tough nosed, which I admire, but man that dude always tries to get in the extra slash or cross-check in every scrum. And with his concussion history, he will not answer the bell anymore so he just comes across as a j-azz.

Tell the Rangers to leave Kakko and Cuylle behind for our late 1st, late 2nd and Harris.
Alternately, Laffy and Cuylle for our top 5 protected 1st and late 1st. If we are top 5 then they get 2025 1st.
Before you complain about "too much", you got two young top 6. If we win the lottery, we draft Celebrini/Lindstrom. Make that 3 young top 6 in one swoop.
Then next season we start arguing if we are top 10 team...
