That goal is all on Armia
He had a wide open player for a one-timer while short handed on a three on 2 … and he decides he is Connor McDavid and tries a toe drag (Armia can barely skate and pulling those kinds of moves?) and loses the puck which goes the other way on a 3 on 1 and ends in our net

Way to go Armia. On the PK & he's trying to toe drag. Just dump it off if you have no play. Brilliant.

Xhekaj lowers the boom on Girgensons.
No Sabre reacts. Is it because they dont want a piece of him or they realize they were good hits.

C'mon Caufield. He gets most of the blame here for his crap pass. That pass to Matheson leads to a breakaway goal for Tuch. Brutal.

I don’t know why he isn’t a target from the get go. Everyone finishes their check on him, with prejudice. Even if he still scores let him pay for those goals.

Suzuki has a couple of very slick stick plays at both ends of the ice but his linemates have left a lot to be desired tonight. Slafkovsky has passed up some shooting opportunities & has a couple of penalties, one deep in the offensive zone. And I have found Caufield's play tonight careless at times.

Buffalo is leaving it all on the ice in a tightly contested game, aided by absurd Montreal turnovers. Aside from a handful of guys on the Habs, led by Xhekaj, there are a critical mass of guys just not stepping up on home ice against a divisional foe.
Looking at the schedule over the next four weeks, Montreal is facing an almost full-proof tank path.

Matheson has been stupidity personified tonight. if he’d just moved his legs he could have harried Tuch. Instead he gifts him a breakaway. Caufield made some poor decisions, but I suspect he’s aching today. One of the crew said early in the game he was struggling to get back to the bench.

Looking at the schedule over the next four weeks, Montreal is facing an almost full-proof tank path. That’s it, folatre. The Sabres have been gifted 3 easy goals because guys are not making simpler plays. But….that’s Marty’s mantra, right? Don’t just make a play. Make the right play. I agree, but that can have you overthink what you should do. The last two goals were guys trying to do something extra. If you execute well, no problem. If not, mistakes result.

I dont usually look too far ahead but after your post I looked at opponents coming up until the end of March. I only see a hand full off chances for wins, The rest are superior teams and other teams that are finding for spots. Going to be a long month.

Another game we will look back on and appreciate the significance, as much as it sucks now. Losing will only matter if they draft a difference maker. No weak draft excuses, no it was the consensus puck at that spot … they have to hit a home run. Otherwise it is just as well we win and draft outside the top 10 I’ll lay odds they pick another defenseman. Which would make the Reinbacher pick obselete.

Mathesons skating is superb. His hockey IQ and decision making is, well…..not You can see why Pittsburgh was willing to let him go, despite those amazing legs. I would not lose any sleep if he was traded elsewhere. I prize hockey IQ very highly, and he is no where near where most of his core teammates are in that regard. When you look at the guys holding this team back, (Anderson, Gallagher, Armia, Matheson) it's the same symptom....hockey vision and creativity, otherwise known as IQ. Anderson seemingly can't wait to get rid of the puck. Fortunately, none of those guys will be around in 2-3 years. You'll notice I didn't include David Savard in that group. His limitations are physical. Not great hands, slow footed...but he can see the ice and knows where he should be, though he may not be able to get to that spot. I don't begrudge him that, even if I'm not re-signing him after next year. Hopefully he garners us another asset.
