Roy's got along way to go to be a top 6 but he is deceptive. He may very well be a Luke Robitaille - not a great skater but has other tools and knows how to get the job done. He got some action with Suze and Cole tonight with Slafs playing poorly and taking dumb penalties. Roy still only got 12 minutes. Roy was perhaps the only guy, or at least one of a very, very small club, who meshed well with Bedard at the WJC. He meshed so well, that Bedard was driven to comment on his play. Bedard is faster than Roy. It always looks like everyone else on the ice is faster than Roy, yet he seems to get where he needs to be quickly enough and even when he's beaten to the puck, a little bit of stick work and OMG, he's coming away with the puck. He made a simple play against Arizona, where he was coming up the left wing, pushed the puck ahead to Newhook, who was blazing up the ice, and Newhook fed Armia for a nice goal. Simple play, hey? I can recall the late 70's Habs where headmanning the puck was Standard procedure. Push the puck ahead and it puts more pressure on the D. Do you think Anderson does that? My guess is that Josh would put his head down, hold onto the puck and race Newhook down the ice and into the corner where he would lose it to the Yotes. Roy has a very high hockey IQ and that alone is enough. The guy whose style Roy matches the most is Mark Stone. Not the fastest, really smart, great stick, excellent passer, good shot. To sum up, Roy is a top 6 guy to me all day long and he should be next season. I'll agree with that 2nd line next year, newhook-dach-roy

I'll agree with that 2nd line next year, newhook-dach-roy And if we manage to acquire Zegras, or draft a good offensive talent?? Laval of course, for the new guy. It will be an ice time balancing act for Marty. Say we get lucky and pluck Celebrini from the jaws of Chicago. Can he make the team at centre? Can he survive the grind? The third line may be a great place for him for a few months and it all gets reviewed then (assuming everyone stays healthy). We are, hopefully, running into the kind of problems we want. Too much talent.

Things change, and you make adjustments based on how things workout... if we get Zegras, great, if we draft a Demidov or Lindstrom great I think it's a given we will be in the Demidov sweepstakes. If we select him, and then management decides he automatically has to go to Laval even with a great camp, he might not be a Hab long I really don't think this fan base and this management team will take another year of losing. Next year I think they are going to construct the team to start winning, so I don't see Roy on pin the top six, and likely Newhook won't be too 6 either.

Next year they need to compete for a wild card spot... I can also see them keeping Demidov or a CHL player on the team whereas any ncaa player not named Celebrini will be in Laval imo.
