Rough week for Toronto. They lose the home and home with Boston both by 4-1 scores. They beat Buffalo last night but needed a very late OT goal to win 2-1.

Saturday night, Habs Leafs, enough said.
It looks like St. Louis finally shook up the fourth line, which has been an identity-less joke the last handful of games. Not to dump on the coach, but I really hate it when a fourth line is just some storage closet for mismatched pieces and parts.
I am sure the goof Reaves will try to start something. Xhekaj can drop them, I have no problem with that. But the Sheriff needs to remember he is playing good hockey on the second pair so it serves no one other than the Leafs for him to go overboard and get a 5 and a 10, whereas Reaves cannot even play hockey so Keefe could surely care less if he sits in the room for an entire period.
Dewar and McCabe are a little greasy too, so all of the boys need to stay on alert every shift.
Apparently, Marner is injured, so Nylander moves up to the first line.

I was thinking the same about Reaves. Its the age old strategy- some bum takes a regular skater for 5 minutes. Xhekaj is already something Reaves has never been- a regular who contributes to his team.
I think Knies may be out too - I saw a nasty collision between him and Marchand on Thursday.

Keefe lost it and got tossed against Vegas about 10 days ago. There was a lot of talk about in the TO media- the pros and cons etc.
I hoping MTL plays well enough to make his head look like a giant tomato. It is really funny to watch.

If Reaves comes after X, all X has to do is move out of the way and let Reaves crash into the boards... he's done it before

I expect Reeves and Xhekaj to fight. The code demands it. 🙄
Last game Xhekaj used the back of the net as leverage against Reeves. Reeves took offense to it, mentioning something about it in the post game scrum

Apparently Pezz will be in the line-up, finally. Wondering if HuGo were trying to showcase Ylonen the past few weeks No takers, no surprise

Just like the code demanded Reaves and Rempe fight last week when NY was in town. Didnt matter much because 2 nobodies went off. He used to be a force but now he's just a sideshow making excuses when he loses a fight. Hard to believe Treliving signed him for 3 years.

Those passes from Slaf and Cole and the finish were sublime.

Waiting for Xhekaj to send Reaves to the Shadow Realm.

Not impressed with AX tonight. That's his 2nd screwup at the blue line. In the 1st he made a back pass to nobody that led to a 2 on 1 and now he loses the puck to McMann for a goal. He needs to get his head out of his butt.
And Montembault - a long distance shot from McMann - really?

Waiting for Xhekaj to send Reaves to the Shadow Realm. Struble pushed Reaves to the ice and retrieved the puck. Very nice. Armia embarrasses Matthews with a takeaway.

The team looks like they want the season to end. Very lackadaisical.

Ya. That early goal got me excited but they have done very little since to test Samsonov. And that PP, godawful as usual.
I think the fans get more jacked at this rivalry than the players.

They only serve to distract and Arber looks distracted at times. Great play to save the 2on 1. Those PP entries with Caufield are useless. He lost the puck twice.

Saw Arber positioned on the right side. That would reduce his effectiveness.

I hate to see them lose to Toronto but I can understand it if their top flight guys are scoring. But to be trailing because of careless play and goals from the bottom of their lineup really burns. McMann and Domi ( who is now on his 7th NHL team before he's 30). c'mon man.

Toronto's middle-six is delivering a strong performance. Montreal's middle-six is playing poorly. Obviously there are extenuating circumstances with Dach and Dvorak injured and Evans being a fourth liner playing way too high in the lineup and Newhook being a natural winger playing center.

Losing to Toronto is never alright in my books. These are the victories I really want, tank be damned.
We have so little to cheer for. A win over the Leafs does wonders for my mood.

The Leafs barely beat the 26th place team that has 1 and a half forward lines... they have nothing to gloat about Losing to the leafs this year, at this point in the season, is fine... next year is not acceptable...

They have had a poor week - 2 regulation losses to Boston and a 2-1 squeaker over Buffalo, another non playoff team. That's why I'm so PO'd. I felt they were beatable tonight. I'll get over it in a day or 2.

There is a fable of a man who went to the same well to fish. Never caught any.
So the neighbor asks him why does he go to the same well if he never catches fish there. What is different today? "Because today I wore my shoes the other way".
Next year, we are going to wear the same shoes backwards and the results will be different....
