Slaf needs a couple of points in this game... loved that when he was interviewed he said the individual stuff is not that big a deal, the team winning is important and what matters

Players do pay attention to their personal stats. Hell, I would, but I wouldn't make a big public deal out of it, much as Slaf is doing. From watching his play, it's clear that he's about winning and most often setting up teammates for an easier shot than he has, even if it adds more risk of not being completed. We don't have to worry about him not putting the team first.
It seems obvious that HuGo place that quality up in their list of prospect skills. It's all part of having the right character to make this team. You can bet your boots that Michkov failed that test.

I wonder about the scheduling. They have just come off a 5 game western trip, come home and have just one day before their next game.

Interested to see if we stick around the 5-6 slot or experience a growth spurt and play pesky fly/spoiler the rest of the way.
Games 81 and 82 back-to-back vs. Detroit could be the Red Wings' season.

Arizona's schedule is pretty tough, so I would not count on them picking up more than eight points max. If Korpisalo plays even close to his contract, then Ottawa should probably finish even (they win the tiebreaker) or a point ahead of Montreal. But the dude is just so sloppy and inconsistent it would not shock me if the modest Habs are above the Sens in the standings.
Looking at the Flyers lineup, their d-corps tonight seems almost laughably bad with Walker traded and Ristolainen, Drysdale, and Seeler injured. However, the Habs do not generate much of anything outside of the Suzuki line.

The Flyers are a gritty, hard-nosed team in the image of their coach. But without Deslauriers available tonight, I think deep down inside no one in the black and orange wants to be a hero and fight Xhekaj. I am not sure if any of them with truth serum would actually want to deal with Pezzetta or a mad Josh Anderson.

There is his first. 9 game point streak Whatever happened to that dopey blogger who said Slafkovsky was a bust? Since she made the bet, Slaf has 11 points in 18 games. So that $55 dollars to Canadian Tire JumpStart. Habs Reddit site is going to match. Plus I saw at least 4 other accounts say they will match Some good came of it

I wonder if the Flyers' coaching staff is trying to start a new fashion trend behind the bench with those zippered jackets instead of a suit jacket. It sure beats some of the outfits Therrien used to wear.

The headline is an exaggeration - no one was humiliated. But at least the writer is right about Schmaltz. He's the definition of bust. The guy played in Kloten last season, Reinbacher's team. Couldnt score there either.

Good power move by Slafkovsky as he drives to the net, stopped by Ersson.

Isn't winning great? There is nothing like drafting a nobody at 10.OA because we're such a powerhouse.
Welcome to dumb and dumber coaching of the NHL

Garnet Hathaway - what a d!ck. Is it his job to stir up crap after the period ends?

I hear you Cranky, eh. But guys have to compete and if they get the job done and win, that is okay too. Realistically, it would be the GM's call if he wanted to give someone who is actually a good player a 'maintenance day' or whatever.
Montreal's schedule is tough down the stretch here. There is no way they finish better than 7th from the rock bottom.
I hope Hathaway stops yapping and actually wants to get down to business with someone.

"Boy's, we're not getting into the playoffs and winning won't gets us anything. So go have FUN out there with run and gun game" I wouldn't have any problem with that statement and it doesn't need an explanation.

For sure, that is certainly a 'message.' But teams like Buffalo and Ottawa have internalized year after year the whole let's just play shinny ethos and they cannot stop the rot (Ottawa seven years with no playoffs, Sabres with thirteen).
This year, honestly, outside of winning the lottery to have Celebrini fall from heaven, I do not think drafting anywhere from 2-8 is dramatically different.
