The Leafs group has beaten the Penguins rookie group...and has lost to the Sens. And from all reports, Justin Pogge is not looking very good in goal. But it's early.
Do the Habs have the same process, or is it just one big training camp?

The Habs participated in this "rookie" series the last few years. I didn't know they wouldn't be playing in it this year, but obviously that's the case. I saw a couple of the games last year. Last year's threadI wouldn't put a lot of stock in Pogge's play in these games - see my comments last year about Price! In Price's defense, though, last year they used nets that were larger than regulation size in the rookie games. I would put a lot more stock in Pogge's play last year in the AHL, and it wasn't great. I saw him several times in Hamilton and he didn't impress me. He's big and covers a lot of the net, but other than that he wasn't anything special. That's not to say that he won't develop, but he's nowhere near the level that Price is at now.

Do the Habs have the same process, or is it just one big training camp?
"The Canadiens pre season schedule has 6 games in 7 nights next week. No, it's not a printing error....
We will have two teams that will alternate for games, said Timmins. This way, we can evaluate more players....
That's also one of the reasons we decided not to participate in the roockie tournament this year.
