I can't see him playing, unless he signs a PTO... his contract starts next year

Makes sense, he can get a payday after 2 years I know I sound like and old tradionalist ( because I am one I guess) but give him a traditional hockey number. I saw a training camp picture of him wearing 81 but at school he wears 20. How about 25 or 27?

Starts this season, so he burns a year this year. Just to play 3 games? Montreal has done this a few times recently Ryan Poehling burnt a year to just play one game. Considering there was lots of chatter on Hutson not wanting to play in Montreal it is a small price to pay to to get him in a Habs jersey. He only burns a year on his ELC, he doesn’t burn a year on his UFA eligibility

Interesting choice. I thought I saw this # worn my Mesar in pre season and in Kitchener.
I wonder how much choice the player has.

That’s a completely non memorable number. 6x8. Whoopee.
Hutson is often compared to Quinn Hughes and it’ easy to see why. There’s one key difference, though, and unless Hutson improves in that area, IMO, he’ll be a disappointment because we’re expecting so much.
The similarities are easy: Side to side skating, agility, escapabillty, passing, vision, IQ.
If you watch Hughes, once he’s done his Houdini thing on a forechecker, he takes off and no back checker catches him. Hutson hasn’t shown that speed. I’ve seen him caught from behind more often than I’d like and he’s going to the fastest league he’s ever played in.
He should get in 2 games to experience that and then work on his speed in the summer. That’s all he needs I think to be a star. A harder shot will help but that will come with more strength. He gets his shot through. Looking forward to Saturday.

We won't see him unitl the two games against the Wings.

It will be interesting to see what they do with him, do they change the PP to be 3 forwards and 2 D with him and Matheson on the points or is he on the 2nd pp unit... I am pretty sure he'll be paired with Chewbacca... lol

He’ll get the table scraps to start, on the second unit.

I'd like them to have 2 D on pp1 and put newhook on the 2nd unit

I see Hutson more as a rover. To do that, he needs another gear, which is learnable.
Bobby Orr lite....

He can improve his skating. It's the easiest of deficiencies to work on. He's got so much skill, I wonder if he is going to get away with a run and gun type style. I keep thinking back to Bobby Orr and how he changed how a defenseman would/should play.

A really good video breakdown of Hutsons strengths and weaknesses
I'm sure in the end of season exit interviews the coaches will ask him to work on the weaknesses

Interesting video.
My first impression remain. He will need more speed to be able to come back when he wonders into offensive zone.
Speed kills...particularly when he has 5his much vision and creativity.

I think it is the program McDavid took part in?
