Marty's contract has been extended for a furhter 2 years so sogned for the next 3 years. I'm good with this as i like the guy and his philosophy. Here's the bad news: HuGo says they will now start wotking on extending the current asst coaches. Hopefully they are refering to SOME of the current coaches. Burrows has to go! Moreover, as has been dkiscussed Marty needs an experienced asst who understands systems and in particular d-zone coverage. My biggest concern is I suspect HuGo, as is the norm, will no doubt be consulting with Marty and Marty seems like too nice a guy to fire anyone, particularly a "teammate". I wonder if Marty has ever fired anyone in his life?

Montreal should sign Pascal Vincent. He was just fired by Columbus
I wanted Montreal to give the coaching job to Vincent back in 2016(?). One thing that always stuck with me was PTH’s idea of Montreal developing home grown coaching talent. Here is the perfect opportunity

Yes, Vincent is a smart hard working coach who has been grinding at various levels for a long time. I know it is not going to happen, but I would replace Burrows with Vincent in a heartbeat.
So who are the Blue Jackets hiring?

I now wish we hadn't re-signed Houle for Laval... while he seems to be doing ok I don't think anyone sees him as NHL head coaching material. I'd much rather be hiring Pascal Vincent for the AHL role to have an in-house replacement for the day when MSL burns out and has got to go.

I personally think Vincent did a bad job in Columbus. Yes he became coach late and didn't have much time to put in a system but he had the whole year to adjust. Plus Columbus has a decent enough team on paper and he really didn't help their young players evolve and some were arguably vocal about it and playing time.

I'm ok with extending Marty as long as Marty knows that hugs and kisses will only go so far an he needs to weld a defensive structure into the team.
X and Os count and they win cups.

See above. John Herdman, HC of Toronto FC, was the HC of the Canadian National Soccer (Footy) Team. He took them a long way, based in large part of his ability to motivate players to improve and be their best. At the World Cup, however, the team did not succeed as well as hoped, in large part because his tactical abilities were not where they needed to be. This is not unusual. Coaches have different strengths and often a Cup winning coach (excluding goaltending) gets his team over the hump because the players were previously or naturally good at something the coach is weak at. Then the coach's strengths do the rest.
Marty has shown he can get players to think, to develop and improve. As HuGo provide Marty with more good players, can he adjust to maintain the good personal relationship he develops with players, but also develop a good system and get the players to execute it? 2B or not 2B. Zat is zee question.
